IMPT : DO not use the hardisk/USB device. Once the desired data file is overwritten by something else, recovery is not possible. The very first thing to do once you realize a file has mistakenly been deleted or partition is corrupted are

a) is to stop using your computer.
b) DO NOT allow Window's chkdsk to run to fix your corrupted partition

Doing so minimizes the chances of the space in question being overwritten by Windows and other programs, thus increasing the likelihood of a successful recovery.
