Don't Panic. Help is on the WAY

DIY File Recovery

There is a freeware which I find it one of the best & easy application to recovery files that are accidentally deleted from the Recycle Bin. You can download the latest version from Download.com

http://www.download.com/Restoration/3003-2094_4-10322949.html

Look for the program Restoration if the URL above is not valid.

Steps :
1. Download and install into another partition away from the partition where you intend to recover the data. If you have only 1 partition e.g. C:\ drive then seek help. Do not attempt this yourself or the data that you would like to recover will be lost.

2. Start the application and specify the drive for recovery from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner of the application window, then click the Search Deleted Files button.

3. If you're recover a specific file, there is a box above this button in which you can enter the name of the file you want to recover. You can either do so before starting the scan, or after the latter is complete to filter the results.

4. Once you find the file in question, select it with your mouse, then click the Restore by Copying button. The application will suggest you restore to a different drive, if possible, to avoid overwriting other deleted data which you might also want to retrieve. If you need to undelete more than one file, this might be a good idea.

At times, searching deleted files by name does not always yields the expected results. For example, a JPEG image saved as "PictureThis.jpg" which was accidentally moved to the recycling bin, and subsequently deleted might not show up as "PictureThis.jpg" in the search results.

Do not be despair as the file might be still there and can still be recovered. It might be listed as a different name e.g. "ABDDD.JPG" and its location listed as something like "C:\DIR29\..."

Under such circumstances, it is advisable to look both at the file extension of items listed under the Name column, as well as the entries under the Modified column. If there is a JPEG file listed and it was modified five minutes ago - around the time you accidentally deleted "PictureThis" - chances are you found your file.

I have also come across files situations when the filename is correct but the content was NOT. So it pays to try seaching around before you give up :-)

Alternatively, u can recover all JPG files and use the Windows Explorer "View Thumbnails" to find the image file :D

If there is some corruption in the partition then use this tool PC Inspector instead :-)
