worker oversees the clearing of land by Bangladeshi peacekeeping
soldiers outside of Dili, East Timor Tuesday. The land will be used
to expand UNHCR's refugee transit center to accomodate 5,700 people.
The expansion is part of UNHCR's contingency plan to prepare for the
influx of thousands of East Timorese refugees from Indonesian
controlled West Timor following recent pro-Indonesian militia
violence amidst the refugee camps in WestTimor. (AP Photo/Joel

PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS: ON ALL
FRONTS
Members of the New
Zealand Contingent are reaching out in rebuilding efforts with the
locals at Rumbia School in Dili, East Timor, not so far
from the PKF Hqs. This was made possible from the $800 proceeds
of the New Zealand Comedy Show, in cooperation with the USGET.
Same humanitarian undertakings are also being spread all over East
Timor by the various NCE's. Photos by Capt. Peterson

The magic of people
working together is as old as the nations civilization and
even those little hands must now rekindle in us their lingering
aspirations for a brighter tomorrow in this part of the world..

Truly, the
United Nations Peacekeeping Force bind themselves with
outpouring humanitarian efforts to a nation reeling from the nightmare
of violence and conflagration and ante-modern destruction with
unperturbed optimism to rise from its ashes.
