Club Activities for 2007

January 11th through 15th - Club leaders Susan Dudasik & Diane Fisher flew down to Phoenix, AZ to attend the Western Regional Leaders Forum, setting up a model horse project display.

January 23rd - "Welcome to Salmon" get together at the Elks Lodge, hosted by the Extension Office. Put on by a variety of local organizations & services, the event's purpose was to feature all the new services, programs and activities in the area. Members of the Salmon Model Horse 4-H Club helped man the 4-H display booth there.

January 26th - Club meeting at the Library. Day of tack making & photo taking, with special guest speaker, Dallas Dupree on hand to talk about Native American horse costumes.

February 2007 - Busy club meeting. Sharon Jakovac donated dozen models. Mary gave her demonstration how to select a model for showing and we started on bridles. Discussed upcoming liveshow and plans for 4-H Fun Night. Copies of the Horse Illustrated article on the Abaco Barbs were passed out.

February 15th through 20th - Club leader Susan Dudasik off to Horse Affairs to accept the challenge of designing a special trail course.

March 3rd - all day 4-H Leaders meeting.

March 8th � 4-H signup at official 4-H Fun Night up at the highschool during 4-H Promotion Week. Games & activities, displays & candy bar sales. $5 memberships due.

March 9th - Club meeting at the Library from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the library. Horse Illustrated article on the Abaco Barbs was required reading, prompting discussion afterwards.

April 13th - Club meeting from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Library. Candy sale funds turned in, demonstrations due, & fun liveshow entry forms due. Group dined on pizza lunch while judging their Canadian sister club's photoshow. Because of previous hassles, the group decided to no longer accept cell phones towards their Cash-for-Critters recycling project. To date the group's raised $218.25 for the Abaco horses through this program.

April 20th to 21st - Salmon Select Horse Sale.

April 28th - Trail Horse Clinic at Whitewater.

May 1st - Idaho Horse of the Year deadline. Grand total of 30 entries were received, with 25 moving onto the next qualifiying round.

May 4th - special Yard sale at Whitewater.

May 11th - Spring Club Model Horse Show at the Library conference room. Eight entrants in 22 classes with Kathy Gatens judging and Kelsie A. serving as ring steward. Good time was had by all.

May 26th - School let out. Summer vacation officially begins!

June 2nd - Live model show in Missoula, Montana. Mary and Hannah participated in Novice and impressed the judge with their showmanship skills, description cards, and overall set-ups. Lots of inquiries into the 4-H Model Horse Project.

June 4th through 8th - Project Camp.

June 9th - NorthWest Expo Live, a model horse liveshow in Oregon where the club not only donated a prize to be awarded to the youngest exhibitor there, (a Breyer "My Friend Flicka" gift set) but also a special 4-H Hi-Point Certificate.

June 11th - regular Club meeting at the Library.

June 23rd - 4-H Hairy Horse show.

July 11th - Winner of the first Idaho Horse Of The Year contest announced. Megan K. and her arabian, AW Darc Mica of Meridian ID. Contest sponsored by the Peter Stone Model Horse Company and the Idaho 4-H Program. Salmon 4-H Club leader, Susan served as contest chairperson. Megan to receive prize of a portrait of her gelding done on a Stone Horse model.

July 13th - Club meeting. Brought models to work on their Native American Costumes for Fair displays. Also judged photoshow for the Challis Hot Wheels 4-H Club. Worked on record books some.

July 14th - River of No Return Horse Sale, where we sold fundraising candy bars.

July 19th - Did a walk-through-town candy sale to raise funds for Breyer Fun Day 2007 & a free Breyer Day Special Run model.

July 12th - 15th - 4-H Camp in Ketchum, ID.

July 16th - 19th - Lemhi County 4-H Horse Camp.

July 20th through 22nd - Breyerfest, held at Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington KY

July 20th through 25th - Salmon Horse camp.

July 28th - Missoula hosted a Breyer Day event.

July 31st - August 5th - Custer Fair at Mackay.

August 10th - Club meeting; all Record books due.

August 18th � 4-H Fair Horse Show for REAL (as in living breathing) horses, not MODEL (as in figurines).

August 18th through 26th - Lemhi County Fair in which the girls held a carnival-style Frog Toss booth as their club fundraising project. The club also sponsored a special gardening-themed basket in the fair's silent auction. Put out collecting bins for ink cartridges & pop-tops!

September 1st - 9th Club displays set up at the Eastern Idado State Fair, which went over really well. Received numerous compliments.

September 14th - Club meeting to further plan upcoming Breyer Fun Day event.

September 28th - 4-H Achievement night celebrating members and their families.

October 6th - Breyer Fun Day at Kings. Games, painting activities, model horses!

October 12th - officially the first club meeting of the new 2007-08 season.

October 19th - Regional 4-H meeting in Idaho Falls.

November 9th - regular club meeting.

November 9th - 12th - State Leader's Forum in Boise.

November 14th - Leader's Council.

November 16th - After school program.

November 24th - Parade of Lights.

December 7th - Club meeting.

December 9th - made Holiday baskets for the Discovery Care Center, fulfilling fundraising and community service requirements.

December 15th - Bake Sale at King�s, traditionally our biggest fundraiser. Raised $111 and the girls bought a hoodie and some toy cars for a boy's name on the Christmas is Sharing tree. We used the left over goodies to create thank you trays for A-Z, Kings, the paper, the library, and KRSA.
