Nataliya and Seth's La Jolla Vacation

Jared had a meeting to go to and Nataliya and I decided to head back to the local shopping mall, about a mile from Jared's house. We found a restaurant, Elijah's, and had breakfast sitting outside. It was okay.... nothing special. Then we proceeded to buy about seven bags of groceries at Ralph's to surprise him. (We thought it would be nice, considering his bachelor-type of food inventory.) Looking at the cart, we realized that carting this all back to his home would be a bit rough. We timed the shopping around the time he'd be able to pick us up.

Well, he was a bit surprised by the amount of groceries we got him! Heh! We dropped off everything at his home and packed up his car with our suitcases. There were a few hours before our flight, so we headed to Pacific Beach. The homes were $1 million+ homes, all with beautiful views of the ocean.

The ocean is the architect of the land... From there, we drove towards the Cabrillo National Monument. They wanted $5 each to get in, so we just drove around the area instead. Honestly, we found the Monument by accident and weren't all that interested in seeing it. We stopped by some sort of protected life-pool where the rocks and crevices are filled with plant life and crustations. By this time, however, it was getting late and we headed to the airport. The planes might be new, but the stair-mobile was taken from Delta!

We relaxed for a bit, shared an over-priced tuna sandwich and some See's chocolates, and then got on our 3:55 flight back home.

Why don't pictures taken from the plane ever turn out as nice as the view you remember? This flight, like all the other JetBlue flights we'd been on, was pretty much uneventful. The flight was smooth and if it wasn't for a slight docking problem, we would have gotten off the plane early.

We'd left NYC a few days before with temperatures in the 50's. We'd spent some time in the San Diego area with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Back in NYC, the temperature was 25. We made our way to the car, shivering under our lighter autumn jackets, and after letting the car warm up, headed home.

It was close to 1 AM when we arrived in Leonia, and it was close to 2 AM when we finally went to sleep.

The end!
