Nataliya and Seth's La Jolla Vacation

Jared was still in a cooking mood as he proceeded to made us scrambled eggs w/toast for breakfast. I'm not sure we finished digesting last night's meal, but we had no trouble finishing breakfast!

Welcome to the San Die Zoo Then it was off to the San Diego Zoo, where Karina and her ex-houseworker (and friend) met up with us. We started by taking the bus tour around the park which was very good (and time-saving) as the park is rather large. Among the animals of interest were an Alaskan brown bear, a Trantvall lion, an elephant and a giant anteater. Afterwards, we walked around and saw another bear, koalas, tree kangaroos, an Andean condor, a Harpy eagle and a polar bear. We got a glimpse at a panda as well before heading back towards the entrance area via the Skyfari. Even from above, this park is so large that we still couldn't see all the caged animals! After a quick run through the monkeys and gorillas and a detour through the reptile section, we decided that we all had our fill and we left.

A giraffe, eating its lunch off the leaves off the tree... or branch that the zoo let for him. An Alaskan brown bear, making the most of its captivity. Two fierce lions, plotting their escape... A baby elephant... never knowing the meaning of freedom.
A young rhino, smiling for the cameras. With a nose as long as this anteater's, he's bound for middle management! These fine specimens are either resting or dead. We didn't stick around long enough to know for sure. ''I envy this koala,'' thought Nataliya. ''Like the koala, I'd love to sleep 22 hours a day!''
This Australian tree kangaroo chooses the salad bar. ''Free as a bird''? Not for this Andean condor. Thanks to the zoo, this Harpy eagle will never die from another animal or hunters. A beautiful polar bear, built for arctic temperatures, soaks in the warm San Diego climate.
Jared on the Sky Safari Nataliya on the Sky Safari... and Seth on the Sky Safari. (Did we mention that there were animals below?) Considered to be one of the smartest mammels, this monkey just wasn't smart enough to escape being caught.

We had a late lunch in Del Mar at the Pacifica Breeze Cafe, followed by a walk to and on the Del Mar Beach. (Take a look!) One of the great things about being so close to the Pacific Ocean in the San Diego area is that in every sunset, you are almost guaranteed a great show every night.

After watching the sun set, we headed back to Jared's palce to relax. Karina went back to her home to get ready to go out later.

I squeeesh the leeetle fishie! Squeesh squeesh! Heh heh! Jared and Karina in a warm embrace.
Awww... A Kodak moment! The sun sets over Karina and Jared. And as the sun sets over the water, our traveling duo poses one last time.

We met up with Karina later at the Side Bar in the Gaslamp Quarter, where she and her friends meeting up for a while. The three of us waited for a while and when she showed up, Jared hung out with her while Nataliya and I left the bar. The music had gotten a bit too loud for us to continue talking inside the bar.

We walked over to a Starbucks about two blocks away and waited to hear from Jared. About a half-hour later, they were out of the bar and were soon making their way towards us. We walked around for a bit and we went to have dinner at an Italian restaurant, Osteria Panevino, which was another suggestion of Karina's. Her suggestions had all been excellent thus far, and this was no exception! The food was excellent and hit the spot.

After a short walk around, we said goodbye and we went out own way.
