Guitar

I own 2 guitars. One is a 30+ year old 3/4 size classical guitar straight from Japan (most likely made by some independent and unknown maker because the label has something written in Japanese caligraphy and doesn't seem to have a serial number anywhere. My maternal grandfather brought it back from Japan for my mom when she was 16. And it just so happened that when I was around that age, I took a guitar class in school.

I must say that it is definitely my favorite guitar. First off, it's a classical guitar so it has a warmer tone and is easier on the fingers because of it's nylon strings. And I tend to play more finger picking songs. Aside from the strings, the size of it is also convenient. I'm not a very big person, so it fits me just fine (although I'm bigger than 3/4 the size of an average person), and I only really notice its size when someone else holds it. Another plus is that it came with its own hardshell case that's cushioned, lined and even has a little store space in the neck area where you can put picks, a tuner, and a capo.

My other guitar is a Squier electric guitar. Nothing fancy, but it's not like I'm in a rock band and need high quality stuff (it came in one of those "jam pack" type things with an amp). I'm pretty amateurish with it, but it's still fun to play power chords or play with the overdrive function of the amp. As much as I love rock and punk sound, nothing compares to the soothing sound of a nice classical guitar.

Aside from my guitars, I also have access to my oldest brother's electric/acoustic Takamine guitar that he has never played (my mom thought he was serious about playing, when he was just trying to pass the time). But of course, it's a full size guitar and steel stringed. Just too awkward for me to play. My arm hurts from having the bigger body cut into my upper arm and the steel strings are much harder to push down and hurt more.

Every now and then, I also play my older brother's Fender electric bass. He wanted to learn to play, got it as a gift along with an amp, and has never played it. Bass lines are fun to play because usually they're a bit easier, but the biggest challenge is probably the strings. Much thicker and heavier than normal strings means more finger strength required. Also, it's a lot bigger than a normal electric guitar, so it's pretty funny to watch me tune it or play on the first couple of frets.

I mean to put more here about guitar related stuff, but I haven't really planned out what. Once again I just got tired of seeing the 'sorry page not available' come up when I clicked the link. So wait for better things to come.
