    Lighting

The following special lights are required (Please refer to Stage Dimensions & Layout Diagram):

  • White spotlight at rear of stage for shadow puppetry (V1 on the diagram).
  • Red spotlight directed down onto the table, positioned directly above the table (V2).
  • Blue spotlight tightly framed on the TV. The TV is moved during the performance and person stands in this position. The spotlight needs to be wide enough to accommodate both situations. Will require gates for tight focus. (V3).
  • Blue spotlight symmetrical to V3, for a person standing on the other side of the stage directly opposite the TV. Will require gates for tight focus. (V4)
  • Warm white spotlight directed at performers sitting on the table. (V5)
  • Dim downlight to slightly illuminate the backsktage area during blackout. (V6)
  •

The following general washes are also required:

  • Cold general bright wash.
  • Warm general bright wash.
  • Dim romantic wash (reds and oranges).
  • Blackout
  •

    Sound

The music is provided by the Blood Makes Noise Crew on CD with one track for each scene. No special sound effects are required from the theatre. The show involves one of the characters speaking. For a small theatre a microphone is not necessary.

The set is comprised of the following items:

  • A free-standing door, positioned on stage prior to performance. The performers move the door during the performance.
  • A table, positioned on stage prior to performance. Again the performers move it around during the show.
  • Three free-standing frames, covered with plain paper, form the backdrop, and are to be positioned prior to performance. The paper is ripped off during the performance, but the frames remain in place. One frame is placed at the rear of the stage at least one metre from the back wall behind the stage (it is used for shadow puppetry as well as backdrop) - this frame is two metres high and two metres wide. The other two frames are each two metres high and three metres wide, and placed on either side of the centre frame.
  • A small free-standing frame covered with paper on which a TV is painted. This is moved around during the performance.
  • 2 x Black acrylic-paint aerosol spray cans and a stanley knife are positioned behind center frame prior to performance. The paper on the frames is sprayed with the paint during the show.
  • The minimum stage size is 8m x 5m - larger stages are fine. The performance suits audiences seated directly in front of the stage; it is not suited to arena-style theatres where the audience surrounds the performance space.
  • The Blood Makes Noise crew will provide all set and props.
  •
