My grandmother was born on January 31, 1879, to Enelia Abrahamsdatter and Andreas Markus Olsen, known as Markus. 

The family farm was SKOTMYR, located near Kragerø.

My grandmother KAREN was the second child and only daughter.

She had three brothers:
  Olav also known as Ole
  Abraham
  Nils Martin also known as Martin

Both Olav and Abraham emigrated to the United States.  By 1900, while still in Norway, Olav had married.  His wife joined him in 1904.  His two children remained behind in the care of their grandparents due their young age and the young son's illness.  They traveled alone from Norway to join their parents in 1911.

Abraham never married and died in Chicago in 1968.

Nils Martin Olsen, who was known as Martin Skotmyr, remained in Norway, married twice and raised several children.
