| First of all, I am for stem cell research if the cells are taken from a surplus embryo or from an Umbilical Cord. I am completely against stem cell research if it is a waste of an embryo that could have become a human being. As for abortion, I am only for it if a women was raped or if the women is underage. If there is any other circumstance, I think that abortion is completely wrong. I believe that human personhood begins while a baby is still in the mother's stomach simply because of the religious point of view that as soon as an egg and a sperm are joined that a spirit is created. As soon as a spirt is created, I believe, human personhood officially begins. This is still a controversial subject, although, and the government can not make it's desicion based upon the religious views of the people. The church and government cannot be combined. The church is a volunteer organization (meaning that you have the choice to your religion and the choice to go to Church) while the government is not. I want everyone that is reading this to realize that this subject is very controversial and many differing views on it exist. You may or may not have the same opinion as me, however, other people's opinions are very valuable. Please email Neema or myself back with your opinion on stem cell research and your opinion of of our website at the adresses listed above and we will be sure to add your opinion to our Be Heard page. If you also go on our Be Heard page there will be a Contact Us section. Please add some suggestions that we could make in our website. -David Mcmillan |

| My thoughts on stem cell researching are very different from others. First thing, I am totally against abortion. I am because I don't like the fact that women choose to have contact with their partner, but they don't take the responsibility to have protection. I think that the women should pay the price and at least have their child. Afterwards, they can to decide if they want to put the child up for adoption. Instead of aborting (killing an innocent soul) and selling their fetuses to stem cell research laboratories, they can have the baby and then decide what to do with it. I can understand abortion if the person was raped, but not raped is not understandable. Stem cell research scientists should know that there are other ways to receive just as much or twice as much stem cells. Instead of embryonic research they can research on umbilical cords or fat removed from cosmetic surgeries. All of these are filled with more stem cells than an aborted fetus. Taking stem cells from fat or umbilical cords is more acceptable to society, rather than controversial. The positives of researching on fat or umbilical cords is that they come in UBUNDANT amounts every single day, just in America alone! My other thoughts on stem cell research are very simple. I think that scientists who do research on stem cells should be very careful. Since stem cells can transform themselves into any cell in the human body they can propose a danger. Like when ever scientists want to test a certain type of therapy on a patient, they should be one-hundred percent sure that the patient has no signs of cancer or infected cells in their body. If they don't have all of that information, they can cause the infected cells to be mimicked and spread out through the body causing the patient to become either very ill or brought to death. Many may argue that that isn't true, but it is very likely to occur if the doctor doesn't have the necessary information. Even though this hasn't happened yet, scientists and doctors should take this into consideration. Many people who read my thoughts may totally not agree with my thoughts and that's understandable, but remember, these are my thoughts. If you have any thoughts to share, please e-mail me at [email protected] (as written on the top of the page, under the E-mail Us box) and we will post your thoughts on our Be Heard web page. -Neema Yazdani |
