Process Paper
We conducted our researched by using the internet. Search engines were mainly used throughout this project. Since Stem Cells are such a widely diverse debated topic, it was easy to find many good sources that gave us many different opinions from many qualified professional people and scientists. The key words involved ?rights and responsibilities of stem cell research.? At the link pages we chose the most information efficient sources. We also got great research from watching the news. While we watched the news, we took the headlines that had to do with stem cell research and typed the key words on the home pages of those news sights (CNN.com).
We developed our entry by using Yahoo Geocities. Geocities is a program that is opened to any internet user and has quality material that helps create a website. In Geocities we picked out our web pages designs, and then organized and typed out our stem cell research information from our printed sources. After we typed out the information we added various links (listed in our annotated bibliography) and such that lead to sites with important information on our topic. We also uploaded our annotated bibliography to a separate web pages (primary and secondary) and linked them our home page. Our website?s home page also has links that link to rights of stem cell research and responsibilities of stem cell research. This process paper is also linked to our home page along with a page that describes our thoughts and feelings of stem cell research. That is how we created our web site.
The relationship between the theme- The Rights and Responsibilities in History and our topic- Stem Cell Research, is that scientists working in the field of stem cells have rights as well research as responsibilities to perform their research. Scientists also have the right to continue in their extracting of Stem cells from Embryos and then using the cells to find cures for life-threatening diseases and to regenerate organic tissue. Scientists have legal rights to test stem cells by using the Embryos of a Fetus. Scientists have the right to protect humanity by using Stem Cells to cure diseases that are effecting the world in majority. But this is not the only side concerning stem cells; scientists also have a responsibility to make sure that stem cells are isolated from the environment of cancerous cells and also from other malignant diseased areas of the body that may cause stem cells to trigger vast spreading of harmful or infected cells. The scientists who use stem cells have a responsibility in using the embryos from a fetus carefully because they concern the ethical and religious problems that many people feel is killing a living creature. People could argue that scientists should not play God. One could say that the use of such cells are getting in the way of our body?s evolution, because our bodies may adapt to not being equipped for fighting off bad diseases by themselves. Also, doctors have a huge responsibility not to force women to give their embryos to the scientists; seeing that it does not belong to them. That is a brief description topic?s relationship to the theme.
