Requirements in the Major - 45 units
Anthropology - 12 units
ANTH 11 Cultural Anthropology (3 units)
ANTH 149 Ethnographic Methods or PSYC 18 or SOCI 104 * (3 units)
Select two (or three) additional upper division anthropology courses.**
Psychology - 12 units
PSYC 01 General Psychology (3 units)
PSYC 18 Intro to Research Methods or SOCI 104 or ANTH 149 * (3 units)
Select additional upper division Psychology courses (6-9 units).**
Sociology - 12 units
SOCI 001 Intro to Soci (3 units)
SOCI 101 Systematic Soci Theory (3 units)
SOCI 104 Quantitative Research Methods or PSYC 18 or ANTH 149 * (3 units)
Select one (or two) additional upper division Sociology courses (3-6 units).**
Statistics - 3 units
STAT 95 (listed under PSYC) or SOCI 015 or SOCI 102 (3 units)
Pre-requisite for PSYC 18 or SOCI 104
You need to pass the Entry Level Math (ELM) test to enroll in STAT 95 or SOCI 15.
Emphasis - 6 units
Two upper-division courses, both from either Anthropology, Sociology, or Psychology
* You may choose to take research methods in either ANTH, PSYC or SOCI. (Note that statistics is a pre-requisite for PSYC 18 or SOCI 104.) Count your research methods class as 3 units in that discipline and take an additional elective in the other disciplines.
In addition to the above major requirements, students must complete university general requirements (59 units), and complete enough electives so that they have completed at least 120 total units. Elective units may be used to complete a minor; they may be selected in consultation with an advisor; or they may simply reflect your interests. We recommend that you complete your 100W, Area Z requirement in either ANTH, PSYC, or SOCI.
** 100W does not count toward your upper division major units.
