In 2005 SNAP (in Minnesota) authorized a second regional SNAP office to open. Prior to this time, SNAP has been providing services to a 5 state region from it's Minneapolis office. This new office is located in Bushnell, South Dakota & operates semi-autonomously under the name "Sisters Need A Place - South Dakota" or SNAP-SD. The organization is a family advocacy organization working with people of all faiths, races & nationalities to assist families in need in developing into wholesome, healhty members of the South Dakota community. SNAP-SD works with existing organizations, both public & private to reach its goals of helping families. Our organization focuses primarily on the needs of Muslim women, who are often marginalized religiously, culturally and linguistically from the mainstream of American culture. However we do not exclusively work with Muslims. Our goal is to respect & protect religious & cultural rights of clients & their families, while assisting their needs no matter what their beliefs. Through education & empowerment women can make better decisions for themselves & their children. Such are the people Of truth, the God-conscious."
