Tails flies and carries Amy Rose in his arms. Tails is a little nervous about the section of town they are in, but Amy does not mind since she has been there before (see Sonic the Hedgehog #65). Amy runs into the library, and Tails follows, believing there is nothing special about the building. Tails loses Amy and starts to call out her name. Amy tells Tails to come to her and soon both are talking to a dog. Tails is suspicious and asks who the dog is since nobody is in this area of town since Robotnik took over. The dog says that his name is Jeremiah and that he has been preserving the work of his grandfather Kirby. Tails is excited since Kirby wrote and drew the stories he read when he was younger. Jeremiah hands Tails a book, and Tails begins to read to Amy the story of their people.
At first there was light, then life. The echidnas were the most advanced and the other species created their own societies. Life remained this way until Alexander explained to everyone that they could benefit by sharing their knowledge. He gathered creatures together to support his vision, and the two species that refused were the echidnas and Overlanders. The echidnas believed their knowledge would do more harm than good, whereas the Overlanders were hostile. Together Alexander and his followers built Mobotropolis. Everyone accepted Alexander's leadership, and Alexander accepted the role as king.
Tails continues to read that the peace would not last long, so Amy Rose encourages him to keep reading.

(Note from Silver Starr: I am writing this in the way that you would read it - left to right. However, to fully understand the story, read the paragraphs in reverse order.)
Right now this second: In Knothole village, Sonic stands with green eyes and gold buckles on his shoes. Sally is confused that Sonic used Nate's Super Emerald to stop a time-beam from destroying the planet and in the process changed his appearance. Sonic says he will have to explain it all to sally again.
20 minutes ago: The energy above Knothole Village disappears as the citizens in Mobotropolis celebrate. Nate studies a machine and exclaims that his theory was correct. The Super Emerald increased Sonic's speed, allowing him to attract the beam away while playing with time. Sally feels dizzy and realizes that Sonic has been successful. Looking at Sonic's shoes, she wonders what happened to him.
40 minutes ago: Sonic has the Super Emerald attached to his back and is dressed in a red suit with lightning bolts on the chest. Sonic knows that it is up to him, otherwise everyone he cares will be doomed. Sonic begins to run and uses the power from the Super Emerald to become Super Sonic. As he continues to run across Mobius, Sonic changes yet again into Ultra-Sonic. After passing Mount Storm, Sonic transforms into Solar-Sonic. Sonic's appearance changes as he travels throughout the different regions. As he runs through the tundra, he becomes Polar-Sonic. As he runs through the rainforest, he becomes Eco-Sonic. Sonic runs across the pattern in a pattern, causing time to move at a faster rate. From Castle Acorn, Prince Elias can see the time-beam moving away from Knothole, but he cannot tell where it is going. The green forked light follows Sonic as he runs. Sonic thinks that he now must do exactly what Nate told him. The beam appears to hit Sonic like a whirlpool.
30 minutes ago: Nate explains that the beam of light could be the cause of time going backwards in Knothole. The beam is forcing Knothole to return to its proper time. If the beam is still pointing at Knothole when time is realigned, time on Mobius will move forwards and backwards and destroy the entire planet. Nate says they must have a better target for the time-beam when the realignment has taken place. King Acorn asks how this is possible, and Nate has the king and Sonic follow him. Nate holds up a Super Emerald, their only hope.
10 minutes ago: Sonic shivers and tells Sally that they made it through the barrier. Turning around, Sonic looks at the glowing light from the tree stump. Sally was left behind. Sonic thinks about heading back for Sally, but the light blinds his eyes. He runs away in search of help.
8 minutes ago: Sonic and Sally stand in Knothole and watch as Uncle Chuck walks backwards, leaves fall upwards, and Sonic's parents talk in a "foreign language." When Sonic notices a strange yellow glow around them, Sally realizes that time is moving backwards. Sally believes that it is okay that time is moving backwards since Knothole is three hours ahead from the Ultimate Annihilator (see Sonic #50 or Sonic Super Special #6). The energy around Sonic and Sally prevent them from disrupting anything, so they must leave Knothole to solve the problem. Unfortunately, the great oak slide is part of the past and cannot be disrupted. Sonic recalls something he read in a comic book and uses his speed to vibrate their molecules, allowing them to pass through the barrier.
10 minutes ago: Sonic and Sally slide in the tunnel of light. Sally begins to gain speed, and Sonic grabs her hand. Sally thinks that they should have sought help before trying this.
7 minutes ago: Sally is surprised that Sonic disobeyed her father's orders (see Sonic #70), but she believes that the king is proud of both Sonic and Elias. Sonic asks how Sally's mom is doing, and Sally replies that she is stable. Speaking of parents, Sally asks about Sonic's parents. Sonic realizes he is not used to having parents, and suddenly a bright light shines from the entrance to Knothole. Sonic says they should check it out.
15 minutes ago: King Acorn hugs Nate, happy that he has returned. Elias and Sonic shake hands, pleased with the results of the mission. King Acorn is upset and lectures both Elias and Sonic for disobeying his orders. Sally walks into the room and says that Sonic's parents called throughout the night wondering where he was. King Acorn asks Sally to escort Sonic to his home.
59 minutes ago: In outer space, a
satellite orbits Mobius and detects a distortion of time on the planet. A target
is acquired, and a beam is shot through outer space.
