Sonic, Tails, Nate, and Eddy face Ixis Naugus, who survived the avalanche. Ixis
gives Sonic and Tails one last chance to return home. Nate demands to know why
Ixis is at his home, and Ixis says he was forced by Eddy to come there. Knowing
that Ixis is lying, Nate explains that Ixis turned himself into fire to hide
in Eddy's flame-throwing cyborg arm. The barriers around the castle would have
otherwise prevented Ixis from entering. Sonic and Tails are ready to fight Ixis,
but Ixis uses his powers to suck the oxygen out of the air. As Sonic, Tails,
and Eddy gasp for breath, Nate pulls out a ring and throws it toward a stained
glass window. Ixis follows the ring and goes straight through the window, which
happens to be a hologram. After helping Sonic to his feet, Nate introduces himself.
Nate believes that Sonic is too rash to be Jules the Hedgehog's son. Sonic explains
that he thought he was just following Ixis; he had no idea that Ixis had come
for Nate. Sonic then asks Nate who he is and why he knows his father. Nate begins
to tell his tale, thinking that Sonic may be the first to understand his story.
The "Find Your Name In Print Page" - 1/2 page
Many years ago, Nate was a geo-physician working with scientists in a city named
Megapolis. Along with his colleagues, Nate hoped to find a source of energy
that would not pollute the environment. Nate's assistant, Julian Kintobor, checked
the calibrations of their machine and encouraged Nate to test their machine,
even though Nate wanted to wait. Nate decided to activate the machine, and after
an explosion, he was arrested for many crimes, including endangering the public
welfare. Nate was banished and walked through the Badlands until he eventually
ran into some Mobians. King Frederic Acorn helped Nate, who later became part
of the royal court. Nate continued his research with a Chaos Emerald provided
by King Frederic. Nate created a new and clean "air power source"
of energy, and the power rings were created. With the new energy, Nate was a
hero, and the city of Mobotropolis was built. Nate was also there years later
when Prince Maximillian became king and was there to teach Sonic's father and
uncle in school.
Although things were going well, Ixis felt threatened by Nate and tried to convince King Maximillian that Nate was a traitor. When his plan failed, Nate approached General Kodos. While Nate tried to study the Great Forest, Kodos and his troops ran into a lost group of Overlander soldiers. A battle ensued and only Kodos and Nate survived. Kodos told the king and queen that Nate revealed the secret location of Mobotropolis, and Ixis supported his lies. Nate exiled himself from the city and soon fell down a hollow stump, falling into a knothole on the forest grounds. While he stayed there, Nate placed his ring-forge into a lake and continued to walk on. As Nate explored the southern tundra, he heard a cry and found a large creature who was possibly a mutant from the "Days of Fury." Nate rescued the creature and found a new friend who helped him build the castle in the side of the mountain.
Sonic is amazed by Nate's story, but he still does not understand why Ixis is after Nate. Nate explains that Ixis was once scared that science would replace his magic; however, this is no longer the case. Nate opens a door and a multitude of power rings float in the air.

Amy Rose stands inside a building with a book in her hands. Dulcy flies up to
the window, but she cannot enter the building since she is too big. Amy Rose
races down the stairs and explains to Dulcy that she found a book about a Great
Dane named Kirby. Kirby was an author whose stories became legends. Amy Rose
tells Dulcy that a set of Kirby's books were given to the Mobotropolis library,
and the two fly off toward the library. Although they are in a rough part of
town, the two girls head into the library, which happens to be large enough
for Dulcy to walk inside. Dulcy finds a book by Kirby named "The D-Man,"
which excites Amy Rose. Suddenly a noise sends shivers up the girls' spines,
and they realize somebody else must be in the library. They run outside of the
building, and Dulcy flies away with Amy Rose on her back, knowing that the others
will have to come to see the library. Inside the library, a figure stands in
the darkness of a secret passageway, looking to see who was there.
