Inside Castle Acorn's medical lab, Doctor Quack speaks to King Acorn, Prince
Elias, and Princess Sally. Everyone wears winter coats since the cool temperatures
have halted Queen Alicia's illness, allowing Doctor Quack and his team to figure
out what is wrong. Sally is upset that her father never told her she had a brother.
King Acorn explains that when Queen Alicia and Prince Elias rode a convoy to
the Floating Island, they were attacked. When search teams could not locate
them, King Acorn believed that it would be best if Sally never knew she had
a brother. For this reason, he would not allow Sally to learn of Geoffrey St.
John's mission to see if Sally's brother was still alive. King Acorn finishes
by saying he should never have placed the role of a leader upon Sally and that
when he descends from the throne, Elias will take his place.
Outside of the castle, Rotor confirms that Sonic found out that Croc-bot was the one controlling Duck "Bill" Platypus (in Sonic the Hedgehog #61). As the group walks, figures dressed as spies report to their boss on the events down below. Sonic finds Nate, who is glad to be home. Amy Rose asks if Nate really created the power rings, and Nate confirms that this is so. Sonic sees Sally, who gives Sonic a hug. Doctor Quack is happy to see Sally smile and recommends that she spend some time with her friends. When Sally feels that she should not since her mother is sick, King Acorn tells Sally to give Nate and Elias a tour of the city. A guard whispers something in King Acorn's ear, so he excuses himself from the group. Elias also excuses himself and says that he is tired from the recent events.
Later, as the group walks around the city, Sonic orders two chilidogs and gives one to Nate. The spies report back to their boss with the news. Soon the group comes across a juice-bar and walks inside. The Mobians inside the juice-bar stare at Nate. Nate thinks about leaving because of the past actions of the Overlanders. The group stays and begins to dance. Sonic pulls Antoine to the side and confirms his suspicion that Antoine likes Bunnie (and vice versa). Becoming more serious, Sonic mentions reunions to Antoine, who becomes upset at the thought of his lost father. Sonic gently tries to break the news about Antoine's father as Bunnie watches. Suddenly there is a loud splash, and a panda pretends to apologize for spilling tomato juice on top of Nate's head. Sonic confronts the panda, who walks away. Sally stops Sonic from fighting even though the panda spilt the juice on purpose. The spies contact their boss, who orders the spies to approach the target.
Meanwhile in King Acorn's briefing room, Geoffrey St. John appears on a monitor and explains that the prisoners at the Devil's Island Gulag escaped. The doors opened all at once, supposedly by Snively, and the guards were placed in the cells. The monitor displays pictures of the prisoners that escaped with Snively. Geoffrey explains that the wreckage from two shuttles were found and there probably were not any survivors due to the high temperatures of the ocean. Elias asks if Geoffrey is positive that no prisoners survived. Geoffrey confirms that he is positive, and adds where else could the prisoners be.
The spies surround the freedom fighters and begin to attack. When Sally is electrocuted by one of the spies, Sonic rushes toward her. The spies take off their trench coats, revealing themselves as Warlord Kodos, Predator Hawk, Arachnis, Flying Frog, Sergeant Simian, Sleuth Doggy Dog, Drago, Nack the Weasel, and Lightning Lynx. Predator Hawk snatches Nate and flies toward the ceiling. Rotor tries to grab on to Nate, but Drago grabs Rotor from behind. Bunnie uses her bionic legs to raise herself toward the ceiling, not realizing that Arachnis is spinning a web around her legs. Sleuth Doggy Dog grabs Bunnie's legs and throws her to the ground. Predator Hawk escapes and drops Nate into a shuttle. Snively is pleased and compliments Predator Hawk on acquiring the target. The escaped prisoners leave the juice-bar, and Sgt. Simian throws a grenade into the juice-bar. Inside, Sally comes to her senses as Sonic notices the grenade hit the floor.

Lupe and the Wolfpack
"Weathering the Storm"
Part III
Written, Inked and Colored by Ken Penders

Lupe's journal explains that the storm has continued for ten days. The wolfpack is rationing its supplies in case the rain does not cease. Lupe has not decided what to do with the Overlander girls named Aerial and Athena.
A ball bounces toward Diablo, who tells Canus to go back to sleep. Aerial approaches Diablo and demands her ball be returned. Diablo wants something in return, a future favor. Aerial guesses that she should return the favor in the future and leaves with her ball. Diablo hopes that she will remember and wonders how Lupe and Reynard are doing. Meanwhile, Lupe and Reynard search for food in cabinets. Lupe discusses the situation with the children, and how she hopes that others would show the same kindness if the girls were wolf cubs. Their backpacks full, Lupe opens a door and gives Reynard the other end of her tether. The two run into the rain and soon reach the other members of the wolfpack. Aerial and Athena rush to Lupe, who greats them with a hug. Later, Canus prepares a soup and serves dinner. Lupe says that they should be thankful even though they still have many things to do. She continues by saying that Aerial and Athena belong with the wolfpack, they will learn the ways of the wolfpack and be treated as part of the pack. Once the rains die down, they will all continue on their journey.
Lupe concludes her journal entry by stating that the longing to be with family grew and hope was changing their future.
