| My Vacation Saturday |
| Since I like to exaggerate a lot on things, I decided to make a really long version of my vacation and I decided to make each day a separate page because there is so much to talk about! I was even surprised at how much I got out of this, it's really amazing what you can think of when you are just writing down everything. Well enjoy and I won't be disappointed if you only get through a couple days because it is really long! |
| Saturday started out around 8:40 am that morning and my dad called me at around 8:45. I told him I'd be ready when he came and he came and picked me up around 9:15 am. So then we headed over to the area where we thought we would find Festival because my friends Kayla and Brittany were having a car wash for Marching Band. Well the place we went too, didn't have a Festival so we decided to drive down the road and sure enough, we found it about three miles or so down the road. So we stopped there and my dad called Grandma and we told her not to rush and they said they would be at Jim and Clare's around 10:30 so we had plenty of time to just kick back. Well Kayla and Brittany were done washing our car so we just hung out for about 45 minutes just talking. Finally my dad wanted to go so I said my goodbyes and we headed to Jim and Clare's. When we got there, we were greeted by Jim and we hitched the boat up to the Blazer and I went inside to see what Steph and Nick were doing. Nick was pretty much all packed except for a few items that were drying in the dryer. Steph was still packing and so I was sitting on her bed when it hit me. I had forgotten my towel and my baseball glove at home in my car. So I ran back outside and told my dad about it. He said it shouldn't be a problem to stop there. So around 10:30 am, Grandma finally showed up. Steph still wasn't ready. She's the slowest of the group. So we waited and finally, around noon, Steph was finally ready to leave. So we told Grandma that we would meet them at my house and my dad and I took off early. We got to my house and I grabbed my stuff and then we met up with Grandma again, only to hear the funniest story ever. They were following us with the boat, mind you our trailer brake lights weren't working, and then as they were driving, the boat ahead of them started stopping and Aunt Dee was like, their brake lights work. This time Steph looked up and said, "That's not our boat." So they were following the wrong boat!! They still managed to make it to my house though so that was good. So finally we were on the road to Hackensack at around 12:30 pm. Not sure when we wanted to eat, my dad gave me the cell phone to call them and ask. They said around 1 or 2. We figured around 1 we should be near Princeton so we stopped there and had Subway(Eat Fresh!). There were like seven people behind the counter! I was like holy cow! At the Subway I worked at we had like four tops working and most of the time it was just two or three working the counter! So we finished eating there and we were on the road again. By now, we were heading to Nisswa to stop to shop or something like that. I think we got into Nisswa around like 2:30 and we all met back at our cars/trucks at 3. Now what the heck, my time is all screwed up. Oh well whatever. So anyway, we are on our last stretch to Hackensack now. Oh yeah I forgot about a near accident that my dad and I encountered on the way to Nisswa. We were driving and this truck and his boat pulled into the median to get on the other side of the highway and his boat trailer didn't clear the road so the guy in front of us started slowing down. Well my dad decides to get over because he couldn't stop without having the person behind us slam into us. Well he gets over and the lady behind the guy that stopped in front of us decides to pull over ever so nicely and practically run us off the road!! We had just enough clearance for the boat to get by and it was within a foot guaranteed. We were all on an adrenaline rush and we started laughing and got really giddy. It was funny. So ok, back to the trip. We get to Hackensack around whenever(my time is all screwed up) and we stop at the Grocery Store. My dad and I wait in the Blazer and Steph and Nick wait in Grandma's car while Grandma and Dee go inside and get groceries for the week. It took them about a half hour and then we were finally off to Hackensack. I'm thinking we got to Hackensack about 5-ish because it wasn't that long afterwards that we started the fire. So we get to Happiness Resort and unpack all the cars. I'm done unpacking right away and so I have nothing to do except go out and explore. So I go outside and see Emily and Nicole standing by Emily's cabin. When I saw them I got really excited because I haven't seen them since last August when we came up to Hackensack. It was nice to see a change in faces. So I greeted them and asked what time they got in and such. Just making small talk. Well then I dragged Em and Nicole to the lodge so I could buy me a postcard to send to Jon, my ex boyfriend. I didn't really want to send him one but I figured what the hell, might as well. So I got it and started writing on it when it started to drizzle. So I thought I won't get this done when it's raining so I went back to my cabin and dropped it off in my Harry Potter(Year 5) book. Then my dad was walking around so I decided to join him for a bit and we ended up walking to the playground area. Oh yeah this was after Emily and Nicole had said they thought Matt was up there. Apparently he was looking at them like he recognized them and he didn't do anything and they were like yeah and he might have red hair and he's got green pants on! Then after they told me that I told them about my dream that I had earlier that year about Happiness Resort and Matt and how he said he was going to come back in the future. So while my dad and I were at the playground, I attempted to climb on the rope that was hanging from one of the boards. Well on my third attempt, I was facing the docks where the paddle boats were and noticed a really tall guy and two girls walking towards the paddle boats. Well for the life of me, I was having no luck with the rope and I tried one more time and still didn't make it. On that last time, the guy looked at me, smiled and laughed and waved. Instantly I knew it was Matt and I didn't even feel embarrassed! I never attempted that rope again the whole week, by the way. So then my dad and I walked back to the cabin and I met up with Emily and Nicole again. I proceeded to tell them about seeing Matt and confirming their suspicions on if he had red hair. So then I went and got Steph and Nick because they were camping out in the cabin and it was a beautiful day! Steph and Nick followed me to Em's picnic table and we sat there talking for like an hour, then I decided I wanted to swing so we headed to the swing set on the playground. I'm guessing it's about 8 pm right now because it wasn't that long after we were down there, that Steph started getting the fire ready. She made a log cabin fire and it worked really well. Matt commented her on it later on that night. So I was listening to my Tim McGraw burned CD and Steph wanted to listen to it so she took my CD player and went and laid down on a lounge chair. Matt decided to show up a little while later and joked about Steph sun bathing. I told him to pull up a chair and he's like I'm fine thanks which didn't strike me as surprising. So after about ten minutes of Matt being there, he finally sat down and Steph finally noticed he was there. Then the questions began. Matt was introduced to everyone again and the only person he couldn't really remember was Emily. That was ok though, no hard feelings. Then Matt began whispering questions to me. By this time, Steph was sitting up and talking with Nick and Emily and Nicole and stuff. Matt's first question to me was, "Are you the oldest here?" then, "How old are you?" to which I replied, yes and 17. Around 11:30, Emily and Nicole started watching the clock and decided they should leave by quarter to 12 when their curfew was at 11:30 pm. After they left, it was a little quieter. Nick wasn't talking much at all the whole night and neither was Steph. It was kind of just me and Matt making conversation, to which we learned several new things about each other. Matt hangs out with his friends like every day and they have lots of bonfires and I guess you could classify him as a druggie but since I don't classify people I would just say he's a guy who smokes. I still think drugs aren't good for you but I'm not going to stop people from doing them unless they really want to quit. Matt also found out several things about me that most people know already, like I've tried pot before but I don't drink. I don't hang out with my friends a lot, they never call me or anything so I'm basically a figment of everyone's imagination during the summer. At least that's how I feel anyway. My dad ended up coming out around midnight, saying Steph, Nick and I had to go inside. I said I didn't feel like it and Matt was like ooh(like he couldn't believe I was talking back). My dad just said we had to come back and then he walked back to the cabin and went to bed. We finally went back to the cabin around 1:30 am. I couldn't sleep very well, my mind was going like a mile a minute with a whole bunch of different thoughts. I finally fell asleep around 3 and slept on the couch until about 8:15 Sunday morning. Oh yeah we also went to The River House Cafe and I ordered Ribs but I wasn't able to eat them all and Steph ordered Crab Legs which made me slightly sick so I might have lost my appetite that way too. The Ribs were delicious but my teeth were still hurting from getting the bands tightened too. |
