The fic challenge theme for this year is Alternate Pairing. Alternate pairs can be M/M (shounen ai or yaoi) or F/F (yuri) or normal M/F pairings. I don't really mind.
Rules
Alternate pairs DO NOT include: Fuuko-Raiha (Raiha has shown quite an interest in Fuuko in the manga, so NO.), Kirin-Rasen etc. In other words, pairs must not be confirmed to be together, and have not shown any special emotion towards each other in the manga and anime. Alternate pairings must also be between two CANON characters.
There are a few exeptions. Menou-Joker is fine. Even though they have a strange relationship during the UBS, and Joker did save her life, there is no concrete evidence that they have anything going on between them. Other examples of alternate pairing are Neon and Joker (since it was fangirl started *coughBottou-chancough*), Neon-Raiha, Tokiya-Fuuko (another popular fangirl pairing) etc. All okay. Hell, since it's alternate pairing, the sky's the limit.
Like I mentioned before, Yaoi or Yuri is acceptable. However, please try to keep the rating below NC-17. Examples of Yaoi couples are Kurei-Raiha, Tokiya-Recca (O_o;; Oh dear gods...) etc. Oh and if you're wondering what the difference is between shounen ai and yaoi, shounen ai is love between two guys without any sign of uh, sexual implications. Yaoi is more... explicit.
Since this is a fic challenge, only fics that have never been posted on the Internet before are allowed. (If enough people beg, plead, whine, wheedle, bribe, blackmail, threaten, or terrorize me, I may change this rule. Don't keep your hopes up though)
Characters are to be kept as into character as possible, but as we usually don't know much about characters and their pasts, you are allowed to make up your own sob story if you want to. --;
Fics can be in any format, POVs, diary entries, one-shots, series, anything. So long as they have an alternate pairing as it's main focus.
I personally believe that the biggest challenge in alternate pairing is making the fic believable. Everyone can write some crappy fic about two completely different characters getting together, but whether it can be believable, that's a whole different thing. I think the best alternate pairing fics make the reader go, "Why not?" or "They're quite compatible, actually..." etc.
Frankly, I personally like really different pairings, pairings not many have seen before. I once saw a Joker-Fuuko one that wasn't all too bad, and was rather cute. And the fic actually made sense, and didn't go too far with the whole pairing. It can be found on Fuuko no Miko's site.
