Categories and Rules

Best Comedy
Essentially, the category's self-explanatory. This goes out to the most hilarious fic of all, be it a parody or a comedy, or any other fic that's mostly meant to make the reader laugh. Hard. They are, of course, allowed to have some serious moments. All self-inclusive allowed ^^ Can be one-shots, or series.

Best Drama/Adventure/Mystery
*snigger* I should just call this Best Serious fic. The reason for me combining everything together is because Recca doesn't have a lot of fanfiction yet, as compared to maybe Fushigi Yuugi, etc. That's why everything is put together. And this category is split into 2 parts:
Best One-shot: Fic that has only ONE part
Best Series: Fic that has only three or more parts.

Best Crossover
Fic that has characters from other animanga series' appearing and having fairly large roles, but with FoR characters playing a major role, with not just a passing mention. OR, fics that involve FoR characters playing the roles of other anime characters in that anime's storyline ^_^ They _can_ be one-shots (even though I seriously don't know how you're gonna compress a crossover into a one-shot) or a series.

Best P.O.V
Best point of view, from any character. I know there are many Kurei and Tokiya POVs out there, so it's preferable if there's something special about your fic (if it _is_ a Tokiya/Kurei POV.) It would be refreshing to see though, POVs from characters who have never been explored in great detail before (there is a great abundance of those in FoR, definitely...) People like Yanagi, or Domon (c'mon, how often do you see Domon POVs?) or even... Mori Kouran. Usually good POVs can actually change the reader's opinion about a character, or at least let the reader feel something for the characters (sympathy etc.)

Best Poem
Best prose or poem. *pointedly* Or sonnet (^.^ Have a funny feeling Bottou-chan or Chris may win this catagory by a landslide) Can be about a character or told from a character's POV ^_^

Best Lyrical
This category goes out to all the songfics, videoclips, and filks. However, as so many types of fics are integrated into one category, there may be more than one winner.

Best Overall
Like it says, best overall fic. The special, beautifully written one that makes us laugh, cry, hate, love, all in one simple fic. (Okay, so I'm exaggerating a bit, but this goes out to the fic that seems to touch us in a special way, be it happy or sad, the fic we all enjoyed the most and will probably continue to enjoy for a considerable amount of time, or until pigs learn to fly, whichever is first. ^__^)

Best Challenge Fic
This category is for the fics taking part in the fic challenge set up by (oh look here,) Me. There will be a fic challenge, each with a different theme each year. This year, it'll be Best Alternate Pairing. For more info on the fic challenge, see the fic challenge page.

Rules

Okay, I don't want to be too strict, but here are just some fundamental rules to follow:

You are allowed to nominate anyone's fic, be it the admin (me ^^), the judges', a newbie, a senior, a retiree (O_o;; Na~ni?) or (obviously) you're own fic. All are welcome.

Fics nominated are allowed to have been published before (with exeption to the fics nominated for the Challenge Fic category). That's because some people have really written beautiful fics already, and I think it's time they got some recognition. Of course if you would like to write a whole new fic for the competition, fine. Feel free to, after all, who am I to stop you?

Nomination period begins November1 Y2K and ends January 31 2001. That gives you 3 months, or 12 weeks, or 84 days, or 2016 hours (which after you minus time needed to sleep, eat and bathe *taps calculator* gives you more or less 1008 hours to work on fics, complete fics, or finally get enough courage to nominate your fic ^^)

This should be obvious, but I'll just mention it anyway. Only fics that you've written are allowed to be archived under your name. If I find out that you've been stealing someone else's fics... >_< You're dead, man. I know where you live, I know who you are, and one day, I will hunt you down and kill you. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday... you're dead meat, man.

You are allowed to nominate the same fic in different categories, so long as they really fit the two.

You can also nominate as many fics by the same author as you want, however, each author is allowed at maximum, 3 fics per category, BUT I reiterate that it's not nice to dominate categories, so don't go overboard with the nominating, ne? =^^=

Fics nominated must be in text (.txt) or HTML (.htm/.html) format. Then just give me the URL and I'll retrieve it. OR you could just email it to me, if you don't have a website to upload it onto.

Marks will be deducted for HTML errors. (But if you do happen to be HTML-illiterate, you could a)type it in Notepad, so it's in .txt format (please do word wrap if this is the case) or b)if it's written in Microsoft Word 97 and above, you can choose to save it (flawlessly) in HTML format. But if you choose to HTML your fic, you must must must HTML it properly, as it really is quite impossible to get HTML errors.) Also, please colour-coordinate properly. If you have a bright green background with white font color and you end up causing permanent damage to judges' eyes, marks WILL be deducted. Please also choose a suitable font size. If judges end up cross-eyed after endlessly squinting to read your fic, you can bet they won't give you a favourable mark.

Fics HAVE to be completed. Series' nominated must have at least 3 parts completed. (Unless, of course, your fic hasn't really gone into full swing yet, and it's still PWP... but considering the minimum requirement is 3 parts, if you're fic hasn't gone into full swing yet, you jolly well should go hang yourself.)

I must have at least 4 fics nominated in each category to run it (otherwise there isn't much of a point, is there?)

If you're fic has won any award previously, it's not allowed.

If the nominees fic was nominated by a sadistic friend, and the nominee really doesn't want it to be in the contest, just tell me, and it'll be taken down A.S.A.P, no questions asked.

Fics nominated in the Best Overall fic category will be voted by the general public and the judges. But the judges' decision will naturally carry more weight. ^^ Everyone will be allowed three votes.

I have the right to decline any nomination. After all, I am the evil admin officer ^^
