| IMPORTANT: Any infant or child with a suspected head injury should be taken immediately to the emergency department for evaluation. MILD A symptomatic mild headache Three or fewer episodes of vomiting Loss of consciousness for less then 5 minutes MODERATE Loss of consciousness for 5 minutes or more Progressive lethargy Progressive headache Vomiting (more then three times) Suspected child abuse Signs of skull or depressed fracture Possible penetrating injury SEVERE Seizures Penetrating injury Loss of consciousness Multiple trauma Focal neurological signs |
