What's going on with the SweetHearts in 2003

DATELINE: Friday, June 20 - This season seems to never end. First our pitcher gets hurt, and then she's out for about three weeks with that injury. We struggle through seven straight losses before a team forfeits to us ending the losing streak. We get our pitcher back only to have her pulled from the team for the season after just one inning. Due to the loss of players (3) and vacations the team faces its very first forfeit in its 21-year history. Next game: Thursday, June 26, 5:30 followed by a team pizza party and collection of uniforms.

DATELINE: Monday, May 12 - No one made a big deal which is good but the SweetHearts did win the first game of the season and game number 300 for me. We beat the Cajun Twisters 16-1. Thursday's games have been moved to Friday due to W.W. Lewis' awards night Thursday. Tonight Karli had a GREAT game!

DATELINE: Sunday, April 27 - Two great practices last Thursday & Friday even if it did rain Thursday. We worked on baserunning, stealing, signals, and such. Friday we spent time batting and "playing" a game between the rookies and vets. Only one practice to go before we play our first practice game. I have a good idea who will play where when we open play that first practice game. Nat and Meg as catcher and pitcher; Sara at first, Karli at second, LEah at third, and Dana at center. Who at short? Who knows - Dana - Torri? Left and right field? K.K. and Devin? All this just depends on who has made the most practices. NEXT PRACTICE is Monday, April 28, 6:30 on field #6.

DATELINE: Tuesday, April 15 - Had a good time tonight. Meg got a chance to pitch to Natalie again. They both did good. Only a few weeks till the season starts. First game will be around May 12 - our 300th. Wow!

DATELINE: Monday, April 14 - Great practice tonight. 13 of 14 players showed. Looks like we have found our infield. Tuesday we will look at catcher and a little base running. Tuesday practice is at 5pm field 7, Pattison Complex.

DATELINE: Monday, April 7 - The weather's been so nice UNTIL today. Rain on our very first practice. What a way to start.

DATELINE: Friday, April 4 - The league will consist of eight teams: The Cajun Twisters, The Warriors, The Lady Renegades, The BaseBurners, The Lady Tigers, Diamond Raiders, Slammers, and the SweetHearts. The Lady Renegades and SweetHearts both had seven returning players.

DATELINE: Thursday, April 3 - Draft went great tonight. I managed to draft a catcher in Natalie Conrad, a great short stop in Victoria Carnes, a speedy centerfielder Dana Hickson, and what was told to me to be a great lineup of new players. They are Cherrie Cormier, Ashley Dolezal, Sara Douga, and Devin Fontenot. I can't wait until the fisrt practice!

DATELINE: Thursday, March 27 - Tryouts for the 11-12 year old league was held this evening. For the first time in 21 years I didn't make a single note about players trying out. Just give me 13 girls and I will coach. I joked with a couple of former players that since I didn't make notes about who to draft I would most likely pull the top draft pick this year. In 20 years I have never been awarded top pick. Guess what? After tryouts we drew cards for first pick - and I get it. First pick and I have no clue who to take. Just my luck. Draft will be next Thursday at 5:30. Players will be posted at that time.

DATELINE: Tuesday, March 18 - Tryouts have been scheduled for March 27, Thursday, 5:30pm, Field 14, North Frasch. Returning players include Leah C, Kelsey J, Meghan M, Adrienne R, Karli R, Kelsey T, and Somer F. Welcome Back.

DATELINE: Sunday, February 23 - The newest softball season is nearing and Sulphur Parks and Recreation is now holding signups. Coach Greg is making plans for getting uniforms ready and cleaning equipment. Be sure to sign up today to be part of Sulphur history as the SweetHearts take the field for the 300th game with coach Greg.
