I
devised this unit for 12th grade college preparatory, honors, and advanced
placement English classes. Although it
is anchored in Language
Arts, it also includes history and
technology content to a lesser
extent. Prior
to this unit, learners should have a basic knowledge of the Internet and
should have some typing skills. They
should be aware of appropriate and inappropriate uses of the Internet and the consequences for
violating the rules. Students should also be familiar with the cooperative
learning environment, including proper and improper behaviors
and procedures. They should be at least
halfway through the Tragedy
of Macbeth before the WebQuest is given so they can chose what
scenes to write their articles on. This
lesson may be extended to other grade levels and to a variety of other
works by catering it to student backgrounds and the piece of literature
being used. Successful implementation for younger students may
require more preparatory time in teaching the Internet and introducing
cooperative learning. |
