o      To evaluate group effort I will utilize the Evaluation of Cooperative Learning Rubric (please see attached).

§       First, the students will complete the rubric.  This helps students monitor their progress and gives the teacher a heads up for team conflicts and slackers.  It does not count toward the final grade.

§       Next, the teacher will complete the rubric while monitoring group work for the group grade component.  If certain groups had conflicts or slackers (which is ascertained via the first rubric), the teacher will pay close attention to that group when giving group grades.  This rubric will count as one component towards the final WebQuest grade.

o      To monitor individual effort within the group I will utilize the Participation Worksheet (please see attached) and the Macbeth Journalism Article Rubrics.

§       During each class, students will be asked to write a list of ideas and tasks they contributed to the group for the day on their Participation Worksheet.  At the conclusion of each day, this will be collected to justify individual effort points in the final WebQuest grade.

§       Using the data collected from the Internet and Macbeth, students will write a news, feature, or editorial on one or more scenes from the play.  The final product will ascertain if the student has read the play, contributed to the research, and has an understanding of at least one basic type of journalistic writing.   Using the Macbeth Journalism Article Rubric, the product will count towards the most points in the final WebQuest grade.
