Scenario 2 - Carentan (Pt 1)

Setting
D Day was a success, now Easy have to take the French town of Carentan, which currently occupied by a company of van der Heydt's Fallschirmjager. The capture of the town will allow the Allied forces on Utah and Omaha beaches to link up and make a concentrated push into the heart of occupied France. Like the boys say, "Take Carentan, then Paris, then Berlin".

Special Rules
This scenario does not use the normal special rules for a Hold the Line mission. The Germans may hold Platoons in ambush, but all ambushing units must be located within the confines of Carentan. Also, the Germans begin the game with all of their transport sent to the rear.

The Germans begin the game with all of their transport sent to the rear.

Your Orders
Easy Company
You must assault the town of Carentan and liberate it from German control. Capture either of the objectives and the battle is yours.

German Army
Stand fast and don't let the Americans get too far into the town. If they capture either of the objectives there all is lost.

Preparing for Battle
This scenario is played as a Hold the Line mission (see pg 159 of the Flames of War rulebook). The Germans are the defenders and their half of the table should be setup to represent the town of Carentan. All open spaces within the town are considered roads.

The American half of the board should have a single road running away from the town through its middle and just enough foliage to afford Easy Company some protection as they advance. Objectives should be placed within Carentan (distinctive buildings are a good choice for this) following the normal rules.

Easy Company gets the first turn.

Ending the Battle
The game ends when either Easy Company is in possession of one of the objectives at the beginning of their turn, or when they fail a Company Command check.
