The letters of Lieutenant Valentine Sidney WOOD DCM who served with The Sherwood Foresters Regiment 1901-1910, the Seaforth Highlanders 1916-1918 and again with The Sherwood Foresters 1918-1920 is one example of the type of archival material contained within the Resource boxes.

Other examples of items within the boxes are maps of the Battle of the Somme 1916 showing disposition of troops on 1 July 1916 and pieces of shrapnel from the battlefields of the Western Front.
