Sponsorship for Excellence has so far found sponsors or sponsored directly 13 young people in Nepal.

Dorje Tsetong - a 30-year old monk, he attended an English course for a year at the British Council in Kathmandu. He wrote and published, with the SfE's help, a book of Tibetan poetry. He is now doing a six year course at the Sara Higher Education College in Dharamsala, India. His sponsor is Mrs Aki Cola, London.

Jigmey Dolkar - a 20-year old graduate of the Central School for Tibetans in Mussoorie, Dehradun, India. She is now in her second year at the Holy Family Hospital, a three-year nursing college in New Delhi. Jigmey is doing exceedingly well in her studies even though she faces a stiff competition from the Indian students. Jigmey is sponsored directly by the SfE. A donation towards SfE general fund would help us help other young people on our waiting list.

Choeden Yangzen - a 13-year old girl studying in the SMDvip Boarding School in Boudha, Kathmandu, Nepal. A bright outgoing clever girl with leadership potential. Sponsored by Joanna El Nemr.

Tsewang Bhuti - a 20-year old graduate of SMDvip school, Boudha, Nepal, now in her first year of A-levels at the Red Cross United World College in Flekke, Norway. Bhuti has a sponsor from outside the SfE programme but she was helped occasionally with donations from the SfE supporters and we keep in close touch with her. In 2006 Bhuti may be able to go to the USA to study medicine - she has secured a scholarship for 50% of the college fees. A further 50% (some $10,000) needs to be raised to allow her to take up her medical studies. Please help with any amount if you can.

Karma Ngodup - an 8-year old boy, studying in the Manasarovar Academy in Boudha, Nepal. He is an orphan and is being raised by his brother, a monk. Karma lives in his brother's monastic cell. He is sponsored by Mustafa El Nemr, Cairo, Egypt.

Chitin Lama - an 8-year old girl from Helambu area of Nepal, she was brought to Kathmandu by her nun aunt as her mother died and father re-married with dire consequences for Chitin. She is studying in the Namgyal Middle Boarding School, Swayambunath, Nepal. Her sponsor is Helene Meier, Bedfordshire.

Tenzin Kunga - a 21-year old Tibetan born in Nepal. Graduated from Dr Grahams Homes School in Kalimpong, India, now studying management in Darjeeling. Kunga was helped for a year and a half with his fees at the college.

Karma Gyurme - aka Tokpa Tulku, a monk in the Ka-nying Shedrup Ling Monastery in Boudha, Nepal. He studied for a year in the British Council school in kathmandu. He has been offered a scholarship for a 6-month course in English in London. Sponsored by Marie-France Hugh, Horncastle, Lincs.

Dorje Wangchuk - a 9-year old boy studying in the Manjughoksha Academy, Kumarigal, Nepal. His sponsors are Bronia Blakoe and her 10-year old son, Alexander, London.

Tenzin Youtso - an 19-year old Tibetan girl, graduated from Namgyal Higher School in Boudha, Nepal in summer 2004. In January 2005 Tenzin is starting a 6-year course in Tibetan medicine in the Shelkar Institute, Jorpathy, Nepal. It is a very demanding long course and Tenzin needs to work extremely hard to succeed. She is sponsored by Marcia Fenwick, Norfolk. Marcia was able to visit Tenzin in Nepal last September, on her way to Tibet.

Nyigma Dorje - a 14-year old Sherpa boy from eastern Nepal. A very clever, astute boy, exceedingly good in his studies and competitive sports, like badminton, football and also chess. He is sponsored by Marie-France Hugh, Horncastle, Lincs.

Dorje Lama - a 8/9 year old orphan from the remote Dolpo area in Western Nepal. Brought to SMDvip school by a monk and stayed there ever since. This is the only home he knows. He is sponsored by Talia and Nitsan Lehavi, London.
