Dawa Dolma is an 18 year old girl from Tatopani, a village near the border with Tibet. There are 11 members in her family. Her father died two years ago. Dawa started SMDvip school in 1995 but due to her rapid progress skipped two classes and has now finished her studies. At the moment Dawa helps in the school office and there are plans of sending her to a Red Cross United World College (again to the Norwegian branch in Flekke where Tsewang Bhuti, another of our past candidates, is already studying) in August 2005 if a scholarship can be secured for her. Help Dawa

Tenzin Gyaltsen is a recent refugee from Kham, eastern Tibet. Tenzin's exact age is not known but he must be around 9/10 years old. The family never seemed to have had any proper records of his birth and were vague about the date. His school number is B415 'a'. Tenzin is a quiet boy, he likes to study English and play on a swing and the slide. He is a bit withdrawn, probably due to the circumstances of his earlier life in Tibet and the subsequent traumas of the escape over the Himalayas. He is a boarder in the SMDvip school in Boudha, Nepal. Help Tenzin

Photo of Kalsang Dekyi

Kalsang Dekyi is a 9-yr old girl from Mustang area of Nepal, bordering on Tibet and ethnically totally Tibetan.
