Introducing a new SDC title!

Judge's Preference (JP)
This title can be awarded at any conformation show (photo shows only, no randomizer) and stands for Judge's Preference. The JP title is awarded to dogs who catch the judge's eye because of their excessive style or flair. Dogs who are given the JP award should exemplify a high level of class, soundness, or flash. It may not be awarded to a BIS winner. It is a casual award that should be given out to dogs who the judge feels deserve special recognition despite the fact that they did not take a BOB or Grp or BIS etc.

JP Regulations:

  • In order to award JP titles you must submit a 12 question test.
  • Each question is worth two points with the exception of #3 on which you may earn as many as 3 pts. A perfect score is 25. A pass is 22 or higher.
  • If you wish to take the JP test you must be a) PT Certified and b) have some experience hosting/judging shows.

    Multiple Awards:
The JP title may be won more than once by a single dog. Dogs who receive the JP title more than once should have the # of times won after their title...example: Juniper is a Sheltie who has extremely rich coloring and a confident, flashy air. She takes BOB and Grp1 but the judge decides to award the BIS to another dog. Juniper could be given the JP award. At another show Juniper takes BOB again but is beaten to the Grp1 by a striking, male Border Collie. Nonetheless the judge loves the way the Sheltie (Juniper) carries herself, the way she looks, and the sweetness of her expression. She places her in Grp3 and awards her a JP. Juniper's name would read: Juniper, JP2. Anytime Juniper receives another JP award the number is changed to indicate the fact...JP3, JP4, and so on.
