Ohio Certified Public Manager Society

The OCPM Society was developed as a 2nd-year project for members of Cohort 1 in 2000 and includes OCPM program graduates, students, and faculty.

Membership Benefits and Goals

The benefits of being a member of the Society are extensive.

As a member of the OCPM Society, you have affiliation with national organization, American Academy of Certified Public Managers. You are part of a large network of other professional managers who have participated in the Ohio Certified Manager Program, not to mention access to faculty from the University associates and faculty who are associated with the program.

Awareness of new developments in theory and practice; an opportunity to contribute to professional management projects and career development through additional study and application are some of the continued benefit goals of the Society.

The Society is expanding their benefit goals to include uniting certified public managers in Ohio; to maintain database of CPMs, whether they are members of the Society or not, as a reference guide and network directory; and to encourage acceptance of public management as a profession established upon an underlying body of knowledge.

Additional goals of the Society are to promote a high professional, educational, and ethical standard in public management; improve communication, cooperation, and coordination among public entities; foster leadership through example and innovation; and facilitate positive changes to enhance the delivery of public services.

The Future of the OCPM Program

The Society is currently discussing the development of new program classes. If you are a graduate can you attend these new classes to receive ongoing continuing education credit?

A project proposal has been submitted for discussion that would change criteria for 2nd-year projects. How will this affect your 2nd-year project?

Is there a chance of receiving full academic credit for Ohio Certified Manager Program participation?

Are you satisfied with the current curriculum of the OCPM program? Do you think classes are too long? Too short?

Being a member of the Society and membership meeting attendance will keep you up to date on all the changes.

As a member of the Society, you can affect the outcomes.
