Update April 3, 2001

The pansies are doing great, but they probably wont be there too much longer.  Temeratures are already getting into the 80s most days and the pansies can't take the heat here in Texas.  The roses are forming buds and it won't be long 'til they flower.  Also the daylilies are looking good.
I love spring bulbs.  There usually one of the first signs of spring.  I also really love the way the Europena roses look in the spring.
I planted daffodils and two types of tulips hoping everything would bloom at the same time.  Well, that's not quite working out.  The daffodils bloomed first followed by these tulips.  The other tulips are coming up but probably won't bloom 'til after the daffodils have faded.  That's alright though I'll just have flowers over a more spread out period of time.
As beautiful as these roses are when blooming I think I like them almost as much in the early spring when all the new growth is bright red.
I planted these four maiden grass plants about 3 weeks ago.  So far they haven't done anything, but it's probably too early to expect much.  The plan is for these to get 5 to 6 feet tall and serve as a back ground for the roses.
This is my latest attempt at making a cold frame.  Each year I seem to try a different design, so far I'm pretty happy with the way it's working.
I planted this rose of sharon bush about two weeks ago and so far it's doing fine.  I have big hopes for this bush, I planted a couple of these in the front yard two years ago and they grew to eye level the first summer.  This rose of sharon is supposed to have dark red flowers, I thought that would look good by our white shed in the backyard.
These are getting ready to really take off.  Unfortunatly, like the pansies, these won't be around too much longer either.
Redbuds are one of my favorite trees.  I love driving around town seeing all of them in bloom.
This area hasn't done as good as I had hoped.  I planted some blue and white pansiess here last fall and 150 crocus last winter with grand visions of this area over flowing with color this spring.  It doesn't look bad, but it's certainly less spectacular than what I was hoping for.
