Curling In The Olympics

Curling has only been a medal sport at the Olympics since the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Originally, curling had made an appearance in the games in 1924, but was dropped. Since 1998, Canadian curlers have not come home from the Winter Games empty handed: Team Sandra Schmirler out of Saskatchewan brought home gold and Team Mike Harris out of Ontario brought home silver in 1998, and Team Kelley Law of British Columbia brought home bronze and Team Kevin Martin of Alberta brought home silver in 2002. Will the winning streak continue in 2006 at the Winter Olympics in Italy?

In order to go to the Olympics, curlers must qualify at the Olympic Trials which are held the winter before the games. The next trials are set tentatively for December 3-11 of 2005 at a location that is yet to be announced. Click on the link above for more information and news on the trials themselves.
