Alternity Campaign: Middle Earth
The Middle Earth campaign is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s
Lord of the Rings trilogy. While
it is possible to run a Middle Earth campaign set during the War of the Ring
(at the end of the Third Age), these rules also provide background to run a
game set during the Second Age or the early Third Age (the First Age requires a
radically different map and is probably too mythical for a campaign). Although
Tolkien’s Middle Earth is classic fantasy literature and not true sci-fi,
the focus on individual heroes, the realism of combat, and the relatively low
power of magic make it a perfect match for the Alternity game system.
