Renada (who rarely uses the surname affected by her children) is the exchequer and chief legal official of Joyeuse and its ladylands. Stern and somber, she is also greedy. She uses her wealth to achieve the highest possible standard of living for herself and her family.

Stephan is Renada�s husband. He enjoys life in the city more than his wife, but hardly dares to let it show. Renada keeps him on a short leash. He does actually enjoy some aspects of household management, and has been known to actually prepare dinner himself once in a while.

Claude Argento is their 21 year old son. Claude is busy � in addition to his rhacos racing hobby and the plans he and his friend Esteve have for starting a racing track, it is well past time for him to be married. He has met Sir Alora at the Green Plains and finds her charming. His mother is less than pleased at his choice of a knight errant rather than a landed knight � they would have been wed over a year ago if she was not stonewalling the issue.

Clara and Nicole Argento are the 19 year old twin sisters. They revel in their novelty, often dressing identically and playing elaborate pranks. Unlike Claude, who has somewhat frivolous plans for his future, these two have no plans. When they marry, they will be expected to take charge of their own households. It is so much more fun and easy to live with Mommy and go to parties every night! Clara has brought up the idea of running away to a Forest Maiden cult, where they can live free their whole lives. Neither really understands the reality of that lifestyle, however, and they would both be quite put out after just a few days of living in the wild.
