Joyeuse is a haven for entertainers of all stripes. Its founders, minstrels themselves, have attempted to make it an earthly paradise for performers of quality. Any performer which they approve (auditions held at their convenience at Town Hall, a tavern) is given a token which entitles her to free food and drink, supplied at city expense. Lodgings are usually cheap to free for token-holders, as a few very successful bards have underwritten boarding houses with their earnings.

Roslyn the Bow is a vielle player of rare skill. Some incident has left the fiddler mute, and she cannot write except musical notation. She communicates only through gestures and through her music - and her music is very good. Audiences find themselves moved to tears, to laughter, or even to anger when she is in top form.
