Convinced that the merge is upon them, Paleo eat the last of their food stores and live hand-to-mouth for two days. A well-fed Cree look ready to win but Kelley takes an individual reward and Paleo's numbers allow them to seize immunity. In a close tribal council, Aiden is voted out over Rob, 3-2. But Aiden does not leave alone — Rob is removed from the game and Karen forfeits.
The Cree tribe is shattered after a tribal council and two evictions. While they were 6 to Paleo's 8 there was still some hope. Now Paleo outnumbers them almost 3 to 1.
Unable to sleep, Miriam records some last words to Rob in a camera confessional. "Rob, I never did anything to you, never. I knew you were upset at me for something... but I honestly never understood why. I guess you thought I was the weakest link, so just step on me and hurt me and I will quit. You almost got your wish, Rob. I was devastated when I received four votes... and even more hurt when you put a poll up who to vote off. But ya know what? I let it go because I thought maybe just maybe we could start over somehow, and I thought we had. I am truly sorry for you, because you must be a very, very bitter person ... to have this much hate inside you. I hope that you can live with the decisions you make in life and good luck to you."
Recording a message to Karen, Miriam says, "You lied to me and were so very cruel in speaking of me. Why? I never did anything to you. I never spoke badly about you. I guess if someone just doesn't click with you, then it's ok to be mean. You may not have any regret and that is something that no one can make you have. I was honest with you and I can live with myself. If you can say the same then you and I definitely don't have the same beliefs. Good luck to you Karen."
Janei is distraught, and can't sleep either. "I guess I am really confused. There is a lot of tension and rumors going on." She's worried because there are so few of them. "I can't see myself surviving for too much longer."
Janei had been caught in the middle between Rob/Karen and Miriam, and worries about where she stands now. She hopes that her relationship with Miriam hasn't been damaged. "I may have to do my best to rally everyone to vote her out and I don't want that, we have been getting along fine lately."
Miriam and Janei talk about it, and some of the things Rob said as he was being thrown out. Janei was afraid that Miriam would hate her, "but we are on even ground now and she knows that we are cool."
"It's lonely at the top," Diana says, complaining that the game is dull. She doesn't expect any real excitement until the merge. "Come individual challenges, it's gonna get really cut-throat. We are all competitive. I have no problem taking out a lot of my own tribe members."
Jon feels that it's great with Paleo being on top, "But once it comes down to all Paleo... I'm gone first!" He isn't sure how well he's fitting in, mentioning how some of his ideas were dismissed on the last challenge. "I'm a loner, except Diana's with me, but we hardly talk. Dunno if she's playing me."
Kelley is glad that their hard work has paid off. "I'm glad that we're doing well but I do feel a bit bad for Cree, since I know they try hard also." She reflects that, "We're all proud of what we've accomplished as Paleo and it has been a tough ride for all of us. We all get along and it's great to still have everyone intact."
Michelle suspects that the tribes are playing different games. "Our tribe's plan is to stay strong together through to the merge or reshuffle so we can play a numbers game until Cree are out of the game. But I imagine Cree will come out fighting," she says, and thinks she can use that to her advantage. "Tabatha, Shane, Rick and I decided on an alliance. With my extra vote, we'll have an advantage over the rest of the tribe at [Paleo's] first TC, so we can call the shots and take out the strong players in our own tribe until the merge comes. I really have two alliances: one with Tabatha, Shane and Rick, and one with the entire tribe. We'll see how it plays out!"
Sick and starved, Emmanuel's condition continues to degenerate. When Paleo receives treemail summoning them to Challenge Rock, they have to take turns helping Eman along on the hike as he can't make it on his own.
Survivors are called out to the rock where they had competed in the "Time Machine" challenge seven days ago. There is a long, covered table set up, surrounded by a ring of torches. But before thinking too much about what awaits them, Paleo is shocked to see the Cree tribe so diminished.
Zoe explains that Rob and Karen were eliminated following Cree's tribal council, but not the reasons why. Before Paleo can gloat, Zoe pointedly asks them how life is at their camp, if they're eating well. Zoe tells everyone that Paleo failed to adequately ration or supplement their initial food supplies, and have been starving for days — while a bear raided Cree's food stores last night.
"Both tribes have made mistakes which put their survival at risk, in what you know is an unforgiving land. Survival comes first here. So it's time to put aside old rivalries and pull together. It's time for a tribal merger," Zoe tells them. "Welcome, Survivors... to the next part of the game."
"We will not begin with a challenge right away," Zoe tells them. They will have this day and the following day free so that they can build a new camp adjacent to the rock outcropping. "However, I will begin by asking you to do a small task. To bring the two tribes together as one, your task is to make a group decision on a new tribe name. Give it a funky edge and strength. I'll leave the rest to you."
Oh, and one other thing Zoe almost forgot... the tables are uncovered and, as per Survivor tradition, there is a celebration feast awaiting them. A couple of the people on Paleo drop to their knees at the sight of it, and there are great whoops of joy at the dishes: trout, perch, grouse, duck and venison; baskets of berries and cornmeal biscuits; and pitchers of Canada Dry ginger ale and Molson Canadian beer.
Zoe wishes them to enjoy themselves, and leaves them to it.
Miriam thanks everyone for making her feel welcome. "I know that we are now playing the individual game, but I want you all to know that I think we can have some huge fun along the way." She congratulates Paleo for sticking together as a tribe.
Janei does likewise. "To Paleo this is more of a welcome of 3 new members," she laughs. "I am glad to be here and can't wait to meet some of you."
Kelley wishes them good luck. "Hopefully things will stay as fun as they've been throughout the game so far."
"I am definitely excited to get to know all of you more and have alot of fun in our new tribe," Staton tells them.
Rick also congratulates everyone on making it this far. "It's great to know we'll have even more fun now that we've merged." Rick comes up with a few First Nations names they might borrow for their new tribe: Ojibwe, Ottowa, Sabaskong, Odawa, Nipissing and Algonkin. Rick's favourite is Potawatomi, just from the sound of it.
Diana greets everyone glad to see some new faces. "I am leaning toward Algonkin since it's the only one I can pronounce," she laughs.
Shane and Miriam are talking at one end of the table. She is reluctant to speak up in front of the group, so Shane tells them her idea. "Keyano, it means unity... I really like this one the best so far. What do you guys think?"
"Oooh," Rick purrs, "Shane and Miriam, I like this one. Sounds like a great tribe name to me."
"Sounds great to me, too!" Tabatha agrees. "Good choice y'all."
Janei also likes it. "Keyano sounds great to me!"
They put it to a vote and it passes unanimously, with two abstentions. (Those cramming food into their mouths with both hands.)
Rick gathers his former-Paleo tribemates around him, obviously not caring one wit for the new "unity" tribe and only for the unity of Paleo Pride's majority alliance. He whips the ex-Paleos into line with another speech.
"Paleo never lost immunity! We must take stock in that and remember that we have to make sure Cree doesn't get what we earned! Let's go kick some merged butt!" Rick laughs. "You all have been an awesome group of people to play this game with. Good luck in this phase, but let's take care of Cree first!"
"I have no problem with that," Diana replies.
"Nor do I," says Kelley.
Michelle laughs. "Let's do this shizzy! Paleo all the way!"
Everyone greatly appreciates the feast except for Eman, who can't keep anything down. He rests in the shade, drinking ginger ale, while the rest of the Keyano tribe get to building their new camp. They find a spot which is sheltered on two sides, yet receives plenty of warming sunlight. Paleo are especially grateful to have someplace dry. Staton gets right to finding and dragging out wood for their shelter, hoping that the work might earn him an extra couple days. Miriam starts building a fire pit.
One downside of being on high, dry ground is that they have to hike for water. Jon and Kelley make an exploratory trip, and discuss the voting situation. They agree to get rid of Cree first, but Jon is curious if there's anyone from Paleo that Kelley would like to get rid of.
"Not that I know of," Kelley replies. "The only reason I would vote out a Paleo before a Cree is if they schemed against the tribe."
Neither Kelley nor Jon have made a lot of bonds with the other players, and they feel comfortable with each other in their mutual vulnerability. They aren't sure what to expect at tribal council — their first — and they are both uncertain of where they will stand after the former Cree are voted out.
When they get back to the campsite, Kelley has a word with Shane. Shane pledges that he is "not voting for one person on our team 'til they are gone." They share some gossip about how Cree lost three in one day. Shane is surprised the remaining three didn't quit as well, but is glad that they had enough respect to stay in the game.
Rick and Diana are also gossiping. When Diana doesn't quite understand why Zoe was angry at Rob and Karen, Rick points out that he'd said some of the same things but in a polite, neutral and respectful manner while Karen was telling Zoe how to run her game. Diana nods, getting the "vibe" of it.
The next morning, Miriam thanks Diana once again for making her feel welcome after the incidents on Cree. "I am glad to have made the merge... but it is really hard to find out that people think so horribly about you." Miriam thinks the game can be won with one's integrity intact, having fun and getting to know people.
Diana gives Miriam some advice: "One thing Paleo loves is someone with ideas who likes to play, so don't be shy."
In a confessional, Diana sighs with relief that the merge is finally here. "I hope now the real fun begins. Miriam seems really nice, I feel bad that people gave her shite on the other tribe. I saw from first TC their reactions but hey, it could just have been stupid-head Rob." Diana toys with the idea of being tough on Janei, who seems high-strung. "Anyhow, I'm not sure how any of this can play in my favour, but I'm having a ball."
Tabatha also gets along with Miriam, as she says in her own confessional. "I have talked with Miriam, she seems pretty nice. Was great, we just started talking like we've been friends forever. Was really nice and felt really comfy!" On the merge, she says, "Poor Cree only has three left — we demolished them!"
Rick has been avoiding the former Cree, but is not blind to Miriam's easy likability. He and Diana go collecting firewood to discuss the situation. "I hate to say it, but she might need to be our first target... everyone likes her, she could more easily make her way into our hearts, and take our heads out of the game."
Diana is neutral about it. "I don't care ... Cree has to go first, after that it's anyone's game." Considering what she knows of Miriam's past, Diana reasons, "She seems smart but there's probably a reason why she irritated everyone."
Rick finds it interesting that Staton, one of the most active players in the game, has been quiet. "Maybe he would be the first 'easy' target to get us going." They have the vote covered, since Staton and Miriam can't both win immunity. "Until Cree is gone, I think we are all safe. I really get a feel from everyone ... the only person who hasn't come right out and said it to me is Jon, but he hasn't disagreed with it, and even if he does switch he is only one person."
Diana thinks that Jon is on the "up and up." They compare notes on every member of Paleo Pride and feel reasonably certain that things are going as planned.
"I think once we get rid of Cree, we ask Zoe to change the tribe name back to Paleo," Rick laughs. He tells Diana that, "Even Janei admitted that those three were not merging with us, but joining Paleo."
Diana is surprised. She'd prefer to vote Janei off first, because Janei "lost it" when Diana taunted her after a tribal challenge a while back. "On the other hand, someone with such a short fuse can be fun and useful to keep around." Diana is still bored. She wants some action, fighting, anything.
Rick thinks that their tribe will fall apart once they have to turn on each other... there will be some action then. Diana laughs. "Even if I go first, I can't wait!"
Rick reassures Diana that, "It's you and me to the end! You are the only person I won't be upset losing to."
Jon and Rick feel each other out about the vote. Rick again pushes his agenda that Paleo should stick together. Jon understands. Since the three Cree left can't all win immunity, there will be enough Cree targets that Paleo is guaranteed safety for the first two Tribal Councils. Rick won't state a target of who should go. "Don't have anything against them other than they are Cree," he laughs.
Next on Rick's list of loyalty checks is Tabatha, who agrees about staying together to vote out the three Cree. "Then it's anyone's game," she laughs. "I can't wait to see what happens; it'll be interesting."
Rick then hits-up Kelley, who says, "I'm happy with our group, we all worked so hard." She's a little worried about the way things will go when it's only Paleo left, but agrees it's a good thing that a Paleo will win. "We earned it."
That night, while Rick and Kelley are switching the campfire watch with Shane and Tabatha, they decide to sneak off a bit and discuss the vote. Jon tags along. Rick asks them for their feelings on the upcoming vote.
"I think Miriam is a very strong Cree," Staton states.
"I say we ditch Miriam," Tabatha suggests, "as soon as possible."
"I'm with Miriam, before we get attached," Jon agrees, knowing it will get more difficult to vote her the longer she stays.
Kelley shrugs. "If it is what you guys want, I'll go with it."
"Sorry," Tabatha says. "I just feel like she is pretty strong. I've spoken with her and it was like I had known her for years! And I don't want to get attached either!"
Understanding that completely, the others laugh in agreement — except for Rick, who is all-business. "She seems like a nice person," Rick whispers, trying to get them to lower their voices, "but we have to really watch ourselves from allowing any Cree to personalize the game."
They reluctantly agree. Rick tells them he thinks Diana would go along with this, which makes six votes. Nobody is sure how Michelle or Eman feel.
The conversation is cut short when Shane hollers out — something whipped past his head. Everybody looks around in the dark and they can catch glimpses of flitting shapes flying around them, silently, swooping acrobatically. Rick is first to realize that they're bats, catching mosquitoes and midges and whatever other insects are around the rocky clearing. The bats are a little freaky, but they don't seem the least bit interested in the Survivors.
Rick, Kelley, Shane, Tabatha and Jon return to camp, telling the others about the bats and hoping it's explanation enough for why half of the tribe had snuck off in the middle of the night.
Before turning in, Rick makes a quick confessional about how they agreed to vote out Miriam. "We can't allow a Cree to be friendly with us and make us feel sorry for them and get them farther than they deserve to go. Miriam will probably be the first to go. Then again, they could all be snowing me and talking behind my back and I will be the next to go," Rick laughs softly. "One is never certain, yet I'm fairly confident at this point."
Having heard about last night's meeting, Diana checks with Jon that Miriam is the target. She asks who the alternate is if Miriam wins immunity, but Jon has no clue. Diana rolls her eyes. "Good planning," she says sarcastically. "I suppose Staton would be the next natural choice."
Diana gets a hold of Michelle, who is excited about the upcoming immunity challenge. Diana tells Michelle that Rick has called Miriam as their target. Both Michelle and Diana are curious about what happens in the eventuality that Miriam wins immunity. In a classic slip, Diana says, "If not Michelle, then Staton would be the next natural choice."
"Not me!" Michelle squeaks in fright and alarm. "Do you mean Miriam?"
Diana curses herself out, laughs and apologizes. She makes an excuse about being tired, and brings Jon into the conversation before Michelle can think too much about it. Jon agrees that Staton would be a good choice as an alternate.
"Either way we can vote for him next," Michelle suggests.
Miriam is walking by and Michelle waves her over as they wait for the immunity challenge.
"We all like playing, I think that's why we made it so far," Diana says.
The challenge is starting, so they wish each other good-luck.
Zoe welcomes Keyano to their first Individual Immunity Challenge.
The challenge is a four-part obstacle course. Inbetween obstacles, they will each be faced with tasks they must complete before moving onward. There are puzzles and a past-Survivors match game. The last leg of the course is a mini-Scavenger hunt which will test the Survivors ability to navigate the forest, collecting tags at specific waypoints.
"Kelley won the last reward challenge and I had planned to give her one reward, but due to circumstances beyond my control I have changed it. Kelley, you will have immunity for the next TC, which makes you exempt from this challenge. You will also get to cancel-out someone's vote." Now that they know the stakes, the Host says to the others, "I hope you find it challenging. Have fun!"
The Survivors get into position and begin with a sprint to the first obstacle, a simple balance beam. Michelle runs straight across it, followed by Janei, Jon, Miriam and Staton. Rick and Tabatha slip and have to start over, and go slowly their second time, keeping pace with Tabatha. Shane is almost to the end when he has to go back. He sees Eman, who was having trouble even starting, take a fall.
Shane gets to Eman before Zoe does; the young man has collapsed from exhaustion. Zoe calls in a medic. Shane looks ahead and sees some of his tribemates have finished the first puzzle and moved on to the next obstacle, and that there's no point in going on. Shane stays with Eman, though he keeps an eye on how well the other Survivors are doing.
In hushed tones, Diana, Rick, Michelle and Tabatha share their answers on the word puzzle and solve it together, then help each over the next obstacle: a cargo net. Janei, Miriam and Staton look at each other in shock as the four former-Paleo block them from passing on the course. Even Jon is surprised.
Lead is exchanged back and forth between the two groups of four players. Gradually, a gap forms with Jon and Janei falling further to the rear. The race is between six people: two who need immunity, and four who would try to keep it from them.
Trudging through a boggy a water hazard, they read the first directions and run into the forest. All six collect tags at the first two waypoints; then history repeats itself. Following each other and trusting their rushed judgement, the four formerly of Paleo lose their way in the forest. Miriam and Staton make the correct turn and the next four waypoints — but only one of them can win the sprint to the finish.
Miriam catches a glimpse of the torches at the finish line. Knowing that she can't beat Staton in running power, she breaks off the path and takes a straight line to the finish. Staton sees what she's doing and redoubles his effort. At one point Miriam slips on a mossy root and stumbles, but she doesn't stop. Miriam breaks out of the forest ahead of Staton, and Staton catches her at the finish. From the camera angle, it's too close to call.
Miriam and Staton give Zoe the tags they'd collected. Well behind, Diana and Rick arrive together, followed by Michelle, Tabatha, and last is Jon. Janei had dropped out of the race.
Firstly, Zoe informs them that Eman has had to be disqualified. He should have been removed a long time ago, but there had to be a reason and now there is. Eman was too stubborn to quit, but now his body has quit on him, and he's going home.
There are some looks of understanding and agreement, and a moment of hope that they might be exempt from Tribal Council. However, Zoe quickly dispels that.
"Congratulations to all of you on playing a great game and making it this far!! The ten of you will be here right to the very end. Eight of you will become Jury Members and the last two standing will be our finalists. Who will be in the final two? Only time will tell."
Immunity is between Miriam and Staton, in an extremely close challenge. One of them only had five tags — likely dropping one on the sprint to the finish. The winner... with all six tags... is... Miriam!
"Miriam has immunity and Kelley has reward immunity. Good Luck to the rest of you!"

Kelley congratulates Miriam; the two of them are safe. Tabatha throws in a "Way to go."
On the way back to camp, Diana tells Miriam, "I know this sounds pompous, but I'm not too-too worried about tonight. I have a funny feeling another inactive is gonna get it." Diana indicates Janei, ahead of them.
When they arrive at camp, Diana hangs back with Rick, telling him that Staton is running scared. Rick agrees, "He's all over the place." Diana thinks he's nice, but he's obsessed about getting voted off.
Diana gets a hold of Shane. Since Miriam won immunity, Shane says that he's after Staton. "That's who I'm voting."
Michelle sees what's going on and checks with Diana for the voting plans. They laugh about how Miriam won immunity just when she needed it. "Staton was the second choice," Diana tells her, "but Janei seems to have given up." Michelle thinks they should keep on plan and vote Staton, who has revealed himself as a strong player.
Diana is half-hearted about it. "I feel bad 'cause I told him there wasn't a plan to vote him out but I guess there is."
"It's fine now when we can vote out people we don't really know," Michelle goes on, "But there's some really cool people. It'd suck if and/or when I get voted out. But it's just the game." The two women congratulate each other on making the jury, at the very least.
Miriam meets with Shane and asks him if Paleo is divided. He says not, but Miriam reveals: "I was told that you are in an alliance and I was asked to join it." Shane says that he knows, and he tells Miriam what he told this other person, that he won't vote anyone off Paleo until Cree is gone because they all made that pact.
"This doesn't make any sense..." Miriam responds. "If you are planning on knocking off Cree, then there is no alliance with me." Miriam is upset that she was asked to agree to an alliance which won't have her, but thanks Shane for being honest with her about it.
Shane asks if it was Michelle who made her the offer, and Miriam answers positively. Shane says that Michelle was asking about offering an alliance, but not that she'd done so, and she certainly didn't have his approval. Shane asks if he can repeat the details of the conversation; Miriam consents. "I just don't know what to do about Michelle," Shane tells her.
While cooking up supper, Miriam chats with Diana, and goes out on a limb to ask Diana if Paleo is actually divided. Miriam says that she heard a comment from Rick about other tribemembers being rude for lurking and avoiding each other. Miriam then says that Michelle revealed to her that she was the first choice to get voted out and Staton is next, already with 4 hard votes against him; Miriam claims that Michelle was telling her this because she wants Miriam in an alliance.
Miriam and Diana agree that Janei should go before Staton; Miriam pleads on Staton's behalf but Diana doesn't want to stand out, especially if Paleo is self-destructing. "Diana, please try to be careful... try not to tell anyone where you heard what I've told you," Miriam asks. "I swear it is true. But I'm concerned about the four in the alliance." Diana promises not to tell.
After supper Shane draws Diana aside, telling her, "I was approached by someone on our team to start voting out our own tribe." When Diana guesses it was Michelle, Shane reluctantly admits that she's right. Diana makes Shane promise to keep it to himself, saying that Shane and Rick are her two closest allies, and she won't betray them. Shane makes Diana an offer: "After Cree, what do you say about getting Michelle out, 'cause I have a feeling she's going to betray Paleo."
Diana agrees on that. "The problem is that Michelle is playing both sides. She may get one of us before we are able to get Cree out." Shane doesn't think there's enough people, plus he takes his Paleo Pride promise seriously, to not vote anyone off Paleo until Cree are gone. However, Diana is worried. "She's approached Cree; I'm thinking Michelle's got Tab, Staton, Janei, Miriam and maybe Kelley." Shane vouches for Tabatha, who is also worried about Michelle taking Cree's side. If Michelle has anyone in Paleo Pride, Shane says that it is Rick.
Diana wonders is she should probe Rick for information, and thanks Shane for the heads-up. After being laid back on Paleo, Diana is a little confused with everything suddenly happening so fast.
Keyano put out their fire and begin their hike to Tribal Council, people pairing off and whispering at points along the journey, the scheming evident.
Diana makes a confessional along the way. "I have a feeling Michelle, Tab and Shane are up to something. I hear from Miriam that Michelle is revealing Paleo's hand. Then Shane finds out and freaks but refuses to betray Paleo Pride even though Michelle may have done that already. She's trying to get Cree on her side; all she's done is scare Paleo into wanting her out right away. I want Michelle out."
"I'll start by saying congratulations on making it this far. The 10 of you have already outplayed 10 of your fellow tribemates, and now the game changes. You are all on your own now — this is now an individual race. You'll need each other to get to the end... but when you get there, only one can win."
Here are the first Keyano votes:
STATON
My vote is for Staton, only because Miriam won immunity and I'm just trying to stay under the radar by agreeing with everyone else's vote.

STATON
Staton only cause I haven't spoke to him yet
(Shane)
STATON
Well, I must say, Immunity threw one huge monkey wrench into this vote.
It takes a lot to get 10 ppl to agree to vote out one person, and then for that person to get Immunity. Well, I guess that's the nature of the beast.
My "fallback" vote is Staton. Sorry, buddy, nothing personal, really. You were simply next. Not first, but next.
(Rick)
MICHELLE
I vote for Michelle. This game requires teamwork and Michelle you aren't a team player. Good Luck to you
(Miriam)
STATON
I'm going to have to vote for Staton because it's what my tribe wants to do this time. I feel bad about this and I really like him...but I don't really want to alienate myself and go against my friends. Sorry Staton, you are a sweetheart!
(Kelley)
STATON
im voting out staton..
have to do what i have to do
(Jon)
SHANE
I have a good feeling I am leaving tonite, some things beyond my control popped up and I haven't gotten a chance to mingle with the other players so that puts a good target on my back... it's okay, I'm totally expecting to leave, it was nice meeting Miriam and Staton.
I am voting for Shane for my own personal reasons
(Janei)
Staton, the tribe has spoken. You have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3. You are now the first member of the Jury. There is a reward for the first Jury Member which will be revealed at final Tribal Council.
Thank you for playing, Staton. We'll see you soon.
