Bonus Episode:  Jury Special

Previously on Survivor Canada...

Day 17:  Staton, the tribe has spoken.  You have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3.  You are now the first member of the Jury.  Thank you for playing, Staton.  We'll see you soon.

Day 20:  Michelle, the tribe has spoken.  You have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3 and now own the second jury seat.  Thank You for playing.  Don't go far as the final TC isn't that far away.

Day 23:  Miriam, the tribe has spoken.  You have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3 and have become the third Jury Member.  We thank you for playing and hope you will watch the rest of the game.

You've seen the story of the Survivors who return to camp after Tribal Council.  But what happens to those whose torches have been snuffed?  What happens while sequestered on the mysterious jury?  Find out NOW!

NORTHERN ONTARIO

The camera opens on a still of the lime-green Keyano flag, pulling back to an aerial shot over the rocky clearing of Keyano's campsite.  The view swings and becomes slightly jarred as the aircraft races through a time-lapsed flight, past the Tribal Council area and production tents, past lakes with temporary floating docks, over the forest canopy and granite outcroppings.  What seems a short flight away, the view returns to normal and takes in a complex of huge log cabins, A-frame cottages and an acreage of patio decks.

This is the Peace Island Lodge, a fly-in resort in Northwestern Ontario leased for the production of Survivor Canada 3.  Forbidden from any outside contact, the Jury is sequestered at the main lodge where they have full use of the staff and facilities of the luxurious resort.

In an obvious advertising showcase, panoramic camera sweeps of the resort are shown while it is described:

The main lodge is a cathedral-style log cabin lodge with a giant fireplace hand-made from lake stones.  The lodge and its pine furniture was originally hand-crafted by the Mennonites back in the late 60's and used as a missionary.  Then the lodge was bought, more cabins were added and it was named Keyamawun Lodge, Cree for "Peaceful Place".  This was the inspiration to change the name to Peace Island Lodge in 1992.

The lodge has a surrounding porch that looks out over the lake, providing a cool breeze in the summer heat and capturing spectacular sunsets.  There is a hot tub and sauna, a sand beach, nature trail, and world-class fishing for Walleye, Trophy Northern Pike and Big Lake Trout.  Because no hunting is permitted, guests can enjoy the splendor of nature and the opportunity to witness wildlife such as Moose, Black Bear, Lynx, Otters, Bald Eagles, Pine Martins, Mink, Beaver and Wolverines.  Cree fishing guides are provided, and the chef and kitchen staff spend all day preparing a top-notch menu.

At Peace Island Lodge, there is a surprising amount of luxury for a lodge so deep into the Canadian wilderness.

The first to arrive was Staton, when he was outnumbered at the merge by the Paleo tribe and voted-off 8-2-1.  He had the ten-bedroom lodge to himself until the next Juror arrived on Day 21.  In an unexpected move, Michelle was turned upon by her Paleo Pride alliance partners and voted-off 7-0.  On Day 24, their third housemate joined them.  It was Miriam, voted-off 6-1-1 after several close calls.

JURY LODGE, DAY 24

"Well, Miriam, I hate to see that you had to join me in here.  I was rooting for you!" Staton tells her.  "Janei is still there and maybe she can get lucky and pull one out for Cree."

Miriam is all hugs for Staton.  "How I have missed you!!!" she exclaims.  Miriam adds, "I want you to know that I played fair."

Staton tells her, "I don't really care for anyone in the game besides you." — because she was the only one who gave him a chance after the merge.

Michelle gives the two from Cree a moment, not wanting to break up their reunion.  "I'm not really cheering for anyone specific to win," she tells them, "but it'll definitely be interesting to see how it turns out."

Michelle doesn't like how everyone took everything so personally.  "It's a game and mine is over this time so I really don't care about it.  I just want to be friends so we can compare notes on who deserves to win and talk about what's going on in the game and stuff like that — it would be a lot more enjoyable for us all."

Miriam feels she doesn't really know Paleo.  "They all seem very nice, but Shane tried to save me so him and Diana are my favourites at this point."  Miriam notes one negative point is that Diana hasn't done much in the challenges.  "If you want to fill us in, please do."

Michelle feels that she's enjoyed being with all the women she's met in the game, but didn't get as much chance to talk with the dudes.  "I'd say I'm rooting for a woman to win."

Michelle adds, "Shane actually called me a bitch last week so he's not exactly high on my favourite dudes list."  Michelle was surprised when Janei won the last immunity, and admires how the last three Cree have been working so extraordinarily hard since the merge.

Miriam is surprised at this revelation about Shane.  "He was always nice to me... as were each of the Paleo members."  Miriam felt that Paleo were all "rock solid" although Tabatha, Rick and Kelley were more distant than others.  However, where she is forgiving of the Paleo majority, Miriam is still stubbornly holding onto some issues with Janei.  "I can not in good conscience support Janei."  Miriam openly states that she hopes to see Janei in the jury next.

"There's only two people left in this game that even tried to get to know me and that I want to win."  Staton tells Miriam, "You have your reasons against Janei, but Janei and Diana are the two I support."  Staton admits that he might be wrong, but doesn't believe Shane is the nice guy Miriam thinks he is.  "I just don't like his vibe."

Not many tried to get to know Staton, and Staton says that without Diana or Janei up there "my vote will have no meaning."  He could care less about the rest of the people.  "I know it's a game... well, it's still a game when I don't vote for them in the end.  I've been walked-on in too many games."

JURY LODGE, DAY 25

Zoe pays a call on the sequestered jury, after hearing of Staton's comments about not voting in the end.

"Staton... You have to vote for a winner at final Tribal Council.  It is your duty as a member of the Jury.  If you have no intentions of doing so, please let me know now so I can take you off the jury and replace you with someone that will go all the way with the game.  And please do not tell me here that you will if you won't."

"Gosh, Zoe," Staton replies, "I didn't say I wasn't gonna vote.  I said that the people that think they didn't do anything wrong... they won't be getting my vote in the end.  I have to vote for someone."

Zoe is very glad to hear that.  "It sounded like you weren't gonna vote... a big sigh of relief for me, thanks Staton!"

Staton adds that, "Most I prefer not to vote for but I know I will 'cause it's my duty."

Miriam suggests to just see how it all plays out.  "At this point we are in agreement that Diana has our vote."  Regarding Janei, Miriam hopes the two of them can agree to disagree.

Staton says that he understands and respects Miriam's reasons.

TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 26

Janei, the Tribe has spoken.  You have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3 and have become the fourth Jury Member.  We hope you will watch the rest of the game.  Thanks for playing Janei.

JURY LODGE, DAY 27

When Janei comes in, anxious to hear what the Jury members are discussing and hears that Miriam has been mentioning her all the time, she can only laugh.  "Miriam, get over it, please.  The three of us were doomed and you had as good a chance as I did.  How about we get past what happened in the first tribal council and talk about what's happening well after the merge."

Janei feels great to see Staton again, saying he's a "dear, pleasant person to be around."  Janei regrets not getting to talk more with Michelle during the game...

"When I found out that Michelle was to get voted out, it was the perfect opportunity to re-arrange a new alliance.  I saw it as life for Miriam and myself.  Hoping that Michelle could rally up a few members, I was going to tell her that she was in trouble and hope that she would accept Miriam and myself for our help.  But granted, we never did reach each other in time and I would have had a difficult time talking Miriam into doing it."

Janei is eager to see who gets voted out next, since Paleo Pride has to turn on each other now.

Staton welcomes Janei to their "homely abound" and congratulates her on being the last Cree standing.  "I was rooting for you but like you said, we were doomed from the beginning."  Staton finds it weird how people voted him out they said it was because he was a threat.  "Whatever, we were gone 1-2-3 anyway.  But good game, girl, and now it's our turn to do the voting."

Michelle has to agree with Staton about Cree being voted out.  "I think we wanted to figure out who was the strongest and get them out first because all three of you worked really hard.  Miriam and Janei each won immunity.  You were all great players and it was more a matter of eenie-meenie-miney-mo."  Michelle doesn't have any hard feelings about anything.  "All I care about is seeing who's still standing at the end.  I just hope it ends up being at least one deserving player."  At the moment Michelle can't think of exactly who that might be.

Staton understands.  "I hope the final two are Kelley and Diana."

JURY LODGE, DAY 28

To pass the time, Janei asks for predictions about who they think is going.  "No ill-feelings, just predictions."  Her best guess would be Jon at the next Tribal Council.

Staton says, "Truthfully, I would like to see Shane go."

Michelle agrees that she'd like to see Shane go.  "But I don't think he will.  I think maybe Rick, Tabatha or Diana may be next to go."  She notes that there seems to be a lack of participation recently, now that the Cree are all gone.  Michelle notes that they're only a week away from the final two.

Staton agrees that they have all slacked off a lot.  "I think Jon has been the least active of any — correct me if I'm wrong, you know them better."

"Jon's been pretty inactive since the beginning," Michelle agrees.  "But he may end up coasting his way through because of that."  She suspects Paleo will vote based on player strength and whatever alliances are left standing.  "Many people claimed to be in alliance with me and there was a smaller group of us who pretended to be aligned.  So depending on who the first one to go is, I may have a bit of an idea on who's holding the power in the game."

Michelle adds, "By past actions, alliances mean nothing in this game.  They'll stick by them for as long as it's convenient and then run on them.  But that's the way the game is played.  Strategic moves, aligning, and a whole lot of luck."

Miriam has been watching who's won the challenges.  "Kelley has won a lot!  So my guess would be Kelley, or Jon if Kelley wins immunity."

Staton thinks Kelley is nice.  "I'd like to see her stay around for a bit."

Miriam thinks that having won so many challenges puts a target on Kelley and Diana's backs.  "I haven't gotten to talk much with Kelley; it isn't that I don't want Kelley to win, just that I want Diana to win more."

Staton laughs.  "I'd be happy if they both made the final two."

"I didn't get to talk much with Kelley while I was in the game, either," Michelle says, "but she was a pretty good player.  I have a hunch that the next to go will be a guy."

TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 29

Shane, your tribe has spoken, you have been voted out of Survivor Canada 3.  You are now the fifth Jury Member of the game.  Thanks for playing Shane and we look forward to your final thoughts on the game.

JURY LODGE, DAY 30

Miriam welcomes Shane to the jury, as does Staton.

Shane, however, isn't very talkative.  He goes hiking on the nature trail and tries to find peace after his rude ejection from the game, betrayed and voted out 5-0 after a reward was counted.

JURY LODGE, DAY 31

Zoe calls on the Jury after wrapping-up the "Hot Potato" challenge at Keyano.

"I just wanted to say that it's great that you all are keeping up with the game and staying in contact.  That makes a great jury and I thank you all," she tells them.  She reminds them that they are sequestered, and that she will still enforce the rules of the game.

"Yes, ma'am!" Staton replies.  "We try our best to follow the rules Mrs. Hostess."

"Ms," Zoe corrects.

"Oh yeah, that's what I meant."

TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 32

Diana, the tribe has spoken, you have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3 and now own the sixth Jury seat.  Thank-you for playing and please post your final thoughts.  Don't go far though, as the final Tribal Council isn't that far away... so keep on watching!

JURY LODGE, DAY 33

Miriam welcomes Diana.  "I'm soo sorry you got voted off.  I think you are awesome and I really think you should have won."

"Hey, girlie!" Michelle calls to Diana.  "Your final words were fantastic.  I enjoyed every syllable, you're absolutely right.  But remember, everyone backstabbed me first, so I'm not surprised they'd do it to you or anyone else.  It's kinda disappointing.  I'm sure you're having the same dilemma I am about who to vote for.  But now that it's over, hopefully we can start up our friendship where we left it off.  And like they say:  if you can't make it to the end, go fighting to the end!"

Diana laughs; she did do her final words for the effect.  "I was a little pissed off at Rick... hoped he would warn me but alas, he's more focused than I.  Of course I expect us to pick up our friendship where we left off, woman!  You're fantastic and I look forward to chatting with you more."

Diana has hardly arrived when she starts something with Janei.  "You really are as stupid as I first thought you were!"

"Wow!  What makes you say that?" Staton asks, stepping in.  He'd also played peacemaker on Cree when Rob and Aiden were fighting, and it comes naturally.

"Her comments..." Diana replies, "are incredibly stupid and childish."  She says that very early in the game, Janei had an "incredibly ridiculous hissy-fit" when Diana made little joke about Cree losing the challenge.  "Granted, it was in bad taste but I was just kidding around.  I laughed for days over that one."

Staton says that he doesn't know anything about that.

Janei decides to hold her tongue.  They only have a couple days left in the jury lodge, and she doesn't want to spend them fighting.

Later, Miriam again raises the big Question:  Who does everyone want to win?  "In a way Kelley has been the strongest, but I go for the underdog and am looking towards Rick or Jon."

"I usually go for the person who has earned it," Staton responds, "and Kelley has kicked some ass.  Go Kelley!"

Diana goes further and shares her thoughts on the final four:  She knows Tabatha mainly through Rick, who said she was a strong player and won a couple games.  Diana and Kelley said they'd align at the beginning of the game but never really did.  Diana says that she's friends with Rick, and didn't expect him to stab her in the back especially without any warning.  "He has a very short temper and plays quite sleazy.  He hates to lose and is very manipulative ... he is definitely the least-deserving in my eyes."  Diana says that Jon is her favourite, despite what she said in her final words, and that he's a great kid and a deserving player.

Staton thanks Diana for the information.  "That helps me a lot."

"Fabulous overview," Michelle tells Diana.  "You're right on the money from what I can remember."  She'd figured Kelley was a threat from early on but admires that Kelley has come this far.  "I think I'd like to be able to vote for someone who played the game ... our final questions will give us all the information that we need."

In the evening, as the Tribal Council nears, Michelle wonders who will be next to join them.  "I'm guessing maybe Kelley or Rick but that's a shot in the dark."

"I'm thinking Jon or Rick," Staton says, though he calls it a random guess.  "I hope everyone is doing fine."

Michelle thought Kelley may be voted out as such a strong player, until news arrives that Kelley won immunity.  "Way to go, Kelley!" she exclaims, thinking Kelley could make it to the end.

Staton replies, enigmatically, "Kelley is definitely-probably the strongest one left in the game."

Miriam's guess:  "I think it will be Jon or Tabatha."

TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 33

Tabatha, the tribe has spoken, you have been eliminated from Survivor Canada 3 and now own the seventh Jury seat.  Thank-You for playing and please post your final thoughts.  Don't go far though, as the final Tribal Council isn't that far away... so keep on watching!

JURY LODGE, DAY 34

"I'm here!" Tabatha announces herself.  "Not wanting to be... but here."

Staton welcomes Tabatha with open arms, and Tabatha requests a group-hug.  Diana, Michelle and others pile in.  Michelle breaks it up with butt slaps all around.

Tabatha tells them straight-up, "I know who I will not give my vote for winner!"  She swears to get "sweet revenge" on Rick.

"You definitely were active, Tabatha," Staton tells her.  "But I was, too, and look at what happened to me."

Diana laughs.  "Tabatha, you are killing me today!"  She asks, "So how do we get our revenge?"

Tabatha notes how Rick got Diana.  And with herself, Rick has struck again.

Staton is confused, but Diana explains, "I think she means that Rick led her by the nose and stabbed her in the back."  Diana asks Tabatha for more details.

"Oh, he had me believe the whole night last night that we were voting Jon.  Right up until Zoe announced who was out.  Then he shut up!" Tabatha growls.  "I don't mind playing Survivor and I don't mind losing... it's just losing to someone who plays dirty that pisses me off."

Staton agrees.  "If I'm going I'd like for people to tell me and not hide it and you did a great job of letting me know I was gone!" he laughs.  Michelle had let it slip just before Tribal Council, thinking Staton was someone else in the dark.  "I'm like that.  I don't mind losing but if you're going to lie to me about it, screw you."

Diana is also in agreement.  "Rick had the audacity to say he was fed up with people who immediately try to jump ship and form other alliances, but he's all for the backstabbing — too sad."

Michelle might find that all a bit hypocritical.  "I know I would have liked to have known that everyone was conspiring against me," she tells them pointedly, "so I could have provided some explanations.  I think it's definitely the better thing to let a person know if they're even at all at risk of being voted out so they can go on damage control and finish what they need to in the game.  It gives a better sense of closure.  But that's the psychologist in my speaking."

"I think once the game is over and people see some things," Tabatha says, "it will bring a whole new light to lots!"

Staton agrees.  "I definitely think so, too."

Miriam has heard that Rick is playing dirty, that Kelley has played a helluva game, and that Jon has played the most honest game.  (Even if he forced Miriam to sit out of her last challenge.)  "I just don't know if I'm convinced that Kelley — who hardly spoke to me at all — deserves to win."

"Vote for who you want, it's not something we all have to agree on," Staton reminds Miriam.  "I have narrowed down my vote to two people and right now I'm leaning more on one than the other."

Diana advises Miriam that, "Jon is the most honest and the smartest at challenges.  Rick is just a dirtyplayer.  Kelley is shrewd, has played well, but not made many friends.  That's just my humble opinion."

Michelle wonders about deals on the final challenge.  "Sometimes people will say, 'I'll let you win if you take me to the final two'.  I think that's a cheap way to play."  Michelle wonders if that will happen this time.

Tabatha knows who she won't vote for — so does Staton.

Zoe arrives at midday.  She says that she's heard talk of revenge, and asks them if they'd like to leave the resort to get a little early payback on the final three.  Eyes light up, and Zoe explains how they can take part in the Final Immunity Challenge.

TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 34

Kelley... thank you for an incredible game.  You are a very strong and active player.  It was great having you in Survivor Canada 3 and I do hope that you will accept my invitation to be in SC4 - All Stars.  You now are the final jury member.

NORTHERN ONTARIO, NIGHT 34

The complete Jury is assembled for the first time right after the Tribal Council.  When they are out of earshot from the finalists and allowed to speak again, Tabatha goes on about getting her "sweet revenge" upon Rick, eliciting immediate laughter from Staton and Diana.

"Amen, girl!" Kelley agrees, and hugs everyone.

"So sad now that you're joining us," Staton tells Kelley.  "In a way it makes my vote easier now."

JURY LODGE, NIGHT 34

After Kelley gets some food into her and a visit from the masseuse, Kelley talks to the others about her place in the game.

"In the past, I've always been the nice one who is brought to the final four or three and kicked out as a threat to win the game.  I thought that if I toned it down a little bit, and was less vocal and developed less relationships with the jurors, I might have a chance of making the finals."

Kelley then laughs.  "Well, stupid me!"  She wishes she'd gotten the chance to know some of them better in the game and hopefully afterwards will be able to amend that.

Tabatha can't believe Rick won the last challenge — despite her best efforts.

Miriam gives "props" to Kelley for getting this far, but is glad that Rick chose to take Jon to finals and thinks he made a terrible mistake in doing so.

"Either way, he wasn't getting my vote," Staton laughs.

JURY LODGE, DAY 35

Tabatha tells the others that she spoke with Shane, who's been keeping to himself.  "He still plans on being in the jury on the final vote," she assures everyone.  Tabatha herself promises to have some brutal questions.

Kelley laughs.  "Rick is the textbook definition of full-of-shit.  He's a sweet guy, but I don't appreciate being lied to for no reason.  It was unnecessary and stupid."

Staton finds it incredible that everyone feels the same about Rick.  "Why couldn't you all have kept me and booted Rick?" he asks, laughing.  He thinks the final Tribal Council will be fun.  "And with me holding two votes, I hold some power so that's cool."

Miriam is beginning to believe that it will be a landslide win.

Diana has a chat with Kelley.  Diana wished it was Jon and Kelley in the final two; they were the nicer players.  Kelley appreciates that, adding, "Rick really is a lying sack of s**t, isn't he?"

"Don't hold back, baby," Diana laughs, "tell me how you really feel."

"I wouldn't be pissed if he didn't tell me right before I left that he was voting Jon off," Kelley says.

Diana assures her that it was the same with everyone.  Rick never told Diana, and they're supposed to be good friends.  "He's a dirty player... at least he's consistent."

Kelley thinks that Rick played the game really well strategically.  "But he's suck a dick!" she laughs.

As a person, Diana and Kelley admit they like Rick.  But as a player... that's something else.

Zoe comes down from her own rooms at the resort, to address the Jury.

"I am so very glad to see all of you staying actively involved in the game.  So many times the players voted out just disappear and that's unfair to all involved.  I thank you very much for being the incredible people that you all are!"

Zoe goes over the instructions for the Final Tribal Council once again, and makes certain that the Jury understand how it will work.

Staton gives Zoe an eager, "okie dokie!"

"Absolutely wouldn't miss it!" Miriam says with enthusiasm.

"Ready for action!" Kelley exclaims.  She mimes setting weapon sights and chambering a round, making Staton laugh.

Diana agrees with the sentiment, saying, "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill!"

Everybody laughs.

While the Jury are transported to the Tribal Council grounds, a director has them stop at certain points to take advantage of the vista as a backdrop for them to share some of their thoughts on the final two:

TABATHA:
I wish I could have gotten to know Jon better.  You're a great person as far as what I do know of you.

DIANA:
Rick is personally a good friend and always will be.  He really is a good person.
I've always said I don't have a maternal bone in my body, but if I ever did have a kid, I would pray that he is half the person Jon is.

MIRIAM:
Rick seemed really cool the few times I spoke to him.
Jon is a very sweet kid, who had a presence of mind.

SHANE:
Jon was quiet and really wasn't part of the team, but I wish him luck in all he does.

While the production people are getting ready to film the final Tribal Council, the Jury members share a few words with each other about the game:

"I know the game is almost over," Miriam tells them, "but I felt the need to say this:  I am so glad to have met you all.  I hope that just because this game is over that we can still keep in touch.  I learned a lot in this game and found some very wonderful folks.  We aren't making any money, but if we come away with new friends... how cool is that!  I am grateful to Paleo for (in the most part) being honest and playing this game with true integrity.  For us few Cree... Staton, you have been my greatest ally from the beginning.  We all became Keyano... Keyano means unity in Cree.  I thought is was really awesome y'all picked it!  Thank-you all for being the super people you are.  I luv ya!"

"I would be up for keeping in touch with anyone who would desire to," Kelley tells them.  "This has been a very nice group of people and I've enjoyed our interaction and would like to continue chatting as well... I'd be up for a chat with any of you."

"I think we're all different people in real life than we are in the game, and that's okay," Michelle tells them.  "I agree that I've met some really great people in this game.  It'd be great to play with y'all again sometime!!  I think we all learned a lot!  I had a pretty good time.  I hope everyone has an awesome summer and if I don't ever get to talk to some of you again, good wishes in all things!"

"Yes, you are all a great group!" Staton exclaims.  "You better keep in touch.  Miriam, you know you were like my mommy-figure the whole game so if you don't talk to me anymore I'm gonna cry.  Michelle, I'm sorry for getting so pissed at you before, when I knew it as a game.  We all learn from our mistakes."

FINAL TRIBAL COUNCIL, DAY 35

While putting up her vote, Kelley says, "This is now officially the easiest voting decision that I've ever had to make."

Staton feels totally the same.
