Day 10

HOT JOBS

This morning, Rhonda Randolph with Health Occupations Texas gave us an overview of the H.O.T. Jobs: A Cool Guide to Health Careers program sponsored by the Greater Houston Area Health Education Center.

She went over the manual and then we did a scavenger hunt for information in the manual. We also played a cool game using beads to simulate the work of a pharmacist, and it's not as easy as it seems.

Finally, we attempted to make cheese crackers with several of our fingers taped together, to simulate the effects of bone and muscle problems in the elderly. This is certainly not as easy as it seems, either.

Closing Luncheon and Presentation

This afternoon was the closing luncheon. All the participants, most of the presenters, and most of the people who assisted in creating the Summer Health Science Institute gathered for one last meal together.

During lunch, Joe Smith showed us previews of the 7th grade HEADS-UP videos. Filming had just been completed, and these were very rough cuts.
