Susan Who?
(A vignette)

Susan whose shoes are often misplaced, travels to school regardless, with shattered bottles lining cobblestone streets, as if an ordinance were not in place. Somewhere in that foggy direction. . . Susan passes by markets where people gather at midday hour, but sane ones at morning rounds. Susan’s eyes of hazel divert the stares of people who often mutter “Whose child is that?” and “Poor girl, where are her shoes!” In response as if she paid such close attention, grins and skips with dirt riddled feet.

Susan whose face is piled with coal-like dirt and not a wimpy rag at home to help her, her superiors grimace and persistently scrub at her face with spare handkerchiefs. Peers or no, Susan is not truly seen by the rest. Surprisingly chubby, she binges on available food. How she maintains joy is witty! Susan who is artistically inclined, is true. Susan who skips, knowing she travels personally taken as art.
