Trey's Sand Page
Hi! thank you for visiting my
website dedicated to sand toys thru the years. I was born and
raised in Portland and my dad was a very good mechanic. In
1964 he built 2 dune buggies when I was 16. The first used a Henry J. Kaiser frame and engine,
while the second used a Jeep Willy's station wagon. Both
turned out very well. We enjoyed going to the Oregon Dunes in
them. Regretfully, dad died of lung cancer in 1965 and we sold
both rigs after that. However, I never lost the "taste for
sand". Since then I have owned a variety of rigs to go out
into the dunes.

Here are photos of dad and I. He is shown in 1965 (shortly
before he died) with the Jeep-based dune buggy. I am shown in
1998 with my VW powered sandrail. Both of us are 51 years old
at the times of the pictures.
As much as I love playing in the sand, I also
love sharing the dunes with family and friends. Everyone seems
to have a smile, even when we break down! (Which we do seem to
be able to do on a regular basis!) If you would like to share
the experience, click on any of the links below. I have
organized them by year. |
