| Creation: How was the Universe Created? | |||||||||
| The followers of the Hol believe that the Universe was created when the three beings of the Hol came together and joined their powers. At this joining, they brought forth the stars and the sun, and later created the planets and the moons. The planet Sudor was created last, as the Hol expended a great deal of their energy to populate the planet. At this point, the Hol rested. | |||||||||
| What is the shape of the world and the universe? | |||||||||
| As with most civilized people, worshippers of the Hol believe the world to be sphere-shaped. They know that the world revolves around the Daystar, and they are aware of the existence of all seven planets. | |||||||||
| Characteristics of the Gods: Are they immortal or indestructible? What is the pantheon? | |||||||||
| The Hol is in reality three gods who form a triumvirate. They are inseparable and while each represents different aspects, they are almost never worshipped individually. Followers of the Hol believe that they cannot worship each god separately because they are all part of the same being. Splinter groups and cults have arisen which do not subscribe to this theory, and in certain places only one or another of the three gods is worshipped. Note that the word "god" here is subjective; these beings are said to have both male and female aspects, depending upon the reason for which they are being invoked. Official doctrine of the Hol indicates that the Hol is "beyond the concerns of the flesh" and that they are sexless. The Hol are immortal beings. Worshippers believe that they fight constantly with demonic powers and that they can be wounded or harmed. When the Hol have been severly beaten in a battle with the powers of evil, the followers will know because their prayers will not be answered while the Hol tend to their wounds. Several types of celestial beings attend the Hol and have much more contact with the mortal races of the world. These beings include the Elysians and the Djinn. The Elysians are powerful celestial beings created directly from the essence of the Hol. The Elysians are typically used to make important announcements, to provide strength for the armies of good, and to bring the prayers of the worshippers to the Hol. The Djinn are a race of lesser celestial beings that many worshippers of the Hol believe they encounter on a regular basis. The Djinn are "Messengers" and are said to to have been created by the Hol out of fire (whereas man and the other mortal races were created from earth). Worshippers of the Hol will typically pray to one of the Djinn, who then bring the prayers of the faithful to the Hol. While both the Elysians and the Djinn are said to make appearances to mortals from time to time, a much more common tactic is for them to assume a mortal form so as not to draw attention. Many times throughout history have common soldiers risen up from the ranks to lead their armies to victory over the forces of evil, only to disappear shortly after the end of the battle. The participants in the battle know that they have been blessed by intervention from one of the Elysians of Djinn. Demons and Ifrit are said to be fallen Elysians or Djinn, respectively, who are now corrupted by evil. |

| How much direct influence to they have? | |||||||||
| As mentioned above, the Elysians and the Djinn often have a direct influence on the lives of the common people, if they are ordered to do so by the Hol. The worshippers of the Hol pray three days a day, every day, for assistance and intervention from the Hol, the Elysians, and the Djinn. | |||||||||
| How much interest do they have in the world? | |||||||||
| The main concern of the Hol is their constant battle with the Demons and the Ifrit. This manifests as interest in the world as they, through the Elysians and Djinn, try to protect mortals from succumbing to demonic temptations. The mortals of the world understand that they are susceptible to demons, and therefore engage in religious rituals to help ward off the demons and make themselves stronger. The worshippers of the faith also believe that they have a sacred duty to wage the "War of the Hol" to convert non-believers. The Elysians and Djinn in particular take an active interest in helping followers wage the War. The average follower of the religion has little to no interaction with the Hol directly. |
