Information for Bhuwani Priests: 1
Goal & Purpose of the Faith
The goal of the Bhuwani faith is to live the best life one can in this world by doing good deeds in order to be judged upon death.  Those who have accomplished more good deeds will be allowed to enter a pleasant and good afterlife.  Those who have performed more evil deeds will constantly suffer in a tortuous afterlife.  The religion is unique in that there are no scriptures or guidelines; the concept of a "good deed" is entirely within the discretion of the followers.  There is no atonement for sins.
Requirements of the Priesthood
Alignment Choices: For reasons stated above, more priests will be of neutral alignment (true or lawful neutral).  Some priests will show a slight leaning toward good or evil; few priests are chaotic.

Minimum Ability Scores: As per the cleric or druids class.

Feats, Skills, Weapon Proficiencies Required: As per the cleric or druid class.  Most starting clerics of Bhuwani will carry a staff and a short spear.  Druids will typically also carry a staff along with some form of missile weapon.

Duties: There are almost no official duties for priests of the Bhuwani faith.  Members of the faithful will typically approach a priest (Rishis) for guidance, and many rulers keep a Rishis "on staff" to consult before important decisions.  However, these duties are entirely at the discretion of the priest involved.  The majority of the priests of the religion are more concerned with how to accomplish good deeds and lead better lives.

Druids and members of the Imperial Bhuwani Path also have the sacred duty of maintaining the shrines of the religion.  There are literally hundreds of thousands of these shrines spread throughout the Empire of the Golden Sun and the Silvery Moon.  Other countries (specifically Verundhi) also have shrines that need to be maintained.

Rights: There are no rights which are inherent to the Bhuwani faith.  They have little involvement in governmental affairs, except in the context of Imperial Bhuwani, which is a sect that promotes "worship" of the Empire.  It is the state religion of the Empire of the Golden Sun and the Silvery Moon and its priests (Rishin) are accorded all the privileges thereby.

Restrictions: There are different restrictions for each different form of Bhuwani.  In addition, cultural and regional differences sometimes impose additional restrictions on priests of the faith.

Imperial Bhuwani - Rishin of Imperial Bhuwani are not officially restricted in any manner, although as mentioned there may be unofficial restrictions placed upon an Imperial Bhuwani priest.  The overwhelming majority of Imperial Rishin will be found only in the Empire of the Golden Sun and Silvery Moon, as their official duties revolve around maintaining shrines in the Empire.

Healing Bhuwani - The Rishin of this form of Bhuwani are also not official limited or restricted.  Their main restriction is that they are expected to heal anyone who needs healing.  They are constantly approached by persons who claim to need healing.  Such mandatory healing duties can sometimes interfere with the other duties of the priests.  Other restrictions are cultural or regional and not official imposed by the faith.

Guardian Bhuwani - These Rishin are the most restricted of all the priests of Bhuwani.  They are required to do the following:
1.  Hair and beard must be kept unshorn.  Any Guardian Rishis who cuts his or her hair is considered a renegade and will be punished by the head of the Guardians.
2.  All Rishin of the Guardians must wear an elaborate silver comb in their hair.
3.  The Guardian Rishin carry a special silver dagger on their person at all times.
4.  Each Guardian wears a silver bracer on his right arm and a golden bracer on his left arm.

Failure to follow these rules will subject the priest to severe punishment by the other Guardians, including expulsion from the ranks of the Guardians and excommunication from the faith.
