| Mythic History of the Bhuwani Faith: 3 | ||||||||||||
| of the gifts of the Kami (for the Kami-do sect). The military focus of the Guardians would seem to be very much against the peaceful tenets of the faith. The Guardian form of Bhuwani was introduced several centuries ago after constant warfare caused many of the followers of Bhuwani to die. Ramar Iasu, the last in the line of the Seven Sages (the original founders of the faith), prepared the Bhuwani for war and self-defense by adding worship of the outlawed Death Goddess to the faith. He created an elite corps of priest-soldiers called the Guardians. The Guardians use their priestly-magicks to defend themselves against other faiths as well as against monsters. Over the years, the Guardians have become more aggressive and less defensive in nature. There are several different paths of the Guardians, including the Lions (Western Empire), Tigers (Middle Empire), Dragons (Southern Empire and seat of the Emperor), Serpents (Norther Empire and seat of the Goshun) and the Sepoy Kpeshiya (who are more warrior than priest and come from Verundhi). Rituals and Prayers As mentioned, followers of all forms of Bhuwani pray twice a day, at morning and at night. Morning prayer begins with a ritual bath, which is followed by a recitation of prayers. There are no formal written prayers for the faith; followers and priests are expected to pray in their own manner. At night, praying centers in the home at the "Shelf of Gods" or "Spirit Shelf." The faithful places objects of veneration on the shelf, including statues representing different spirits to the family, pictures of ancestors, and objects purchased at many of the Bhuwani shrines. Worship at the Spirit Shelf includes the offering of flowers, food, drink, and the use of lanterns, incense, and music. Note that the followers of the Khi sect also worship at the Spirit Shelf, although their objects of veneration do not include statues of spirits but rather natural objects representing the six holy places. Many priests and followers also wash their hands before evening prayer. The morning ritual honors the Sun Goddess (or the Sun aspect of the True Name) and the evening ritual honors the Moon Goddess (or the Moon aspect of the True Name, as well as any other spirits on the spirit shelf). |

| The Future: Are there any legends about the future of the world? | ||||||||||||
| There is no "apocalypse" or "end of the world" in the minds of the Bhuwani. Followers believe that, upon death, they will be judged and enter the "good" afterlife or the "evil" afterlife, based upon their actions during life. This cycle will continue forever. | ||||||||||||
| The Pantheon: Who are the main gods and what are their attributes? | ||||||||||||
| There are two main sects of Bhuwani, the Khi sect which is monotheistic in nature, and the Kami-do sect, which is polytheistic and practices ancestor worship as well. The gods of the Kami-do sect are too numerous to name. The Khis call their deity the "True Name". The domains of the various priesthoods are as follows: Khi Sect: Sun, Law, and Moon Domains Kami-do Sect: Family Domain (plus others; seek approval on choices) Imperial Bhuwani Path: Nobility, Renewal Healing Path - Mountain: Healing, Earth Healing Path - Shaman: Healing, Fate Healing Path - Divination: Healing, Magic Guardian Path: Death, Protection, Retribution |

| Events: What are the main legends and events of the faith? | ||||||||||||
| Unlike other major religions, there are not many legends or stories of Bhuwani. The focus of the religion is on the "here-and-now" and not on the past. There are, however, a few Holy Days on the Bhuwani calendar that are celebrated throughout the year. The 1st of Alfite The first day of the New Year and the Annual Festival (note that in order to fit in the rest of the world's Common calendar, the Annual Festival now lasts for the four days preceding the 1st of Alfite) The 5th of Calidshire The birth of the First Sage, Ramar Itegu The 13th of Calidshire The birth of the Second Sage, Ramar Shogu The 4th of Weastent The birth of the Fifth Sage, Ramar Wazi |
