Prolouge

"Oi, remember everything I told you ok? Never forget each and every instruction I said..." a boy, with dark blue hair and light brown eyes, about 13 years old told a girl, who had wavy light blue hair and deep blue eyes, a year younger than him.

"Hai...I won't forget any of it..."

"Good... I'll be on my way then..."

"...sou da ne! Don't forget to write then!"

"No... I don't need to write to you... I'll be going places... but I'm sure will meet there..."

"...Meet where?"

"...Greed Island..." the boy's last words before he left, left the girl clueless.

'Hm...how does this thing work again?'

'...'

'oh yeah! I remember now!'

Innocently, the girl places the data card in the joystation and wore the weird-looking ring in her finger, not knowing what happens next.

'huh? what's happening?! why is my vision blurring all of a sudden... wha--'

'where am I?'

The girl walked on a straight path of a brand new place, she knew she was at home then the next thing she knew, she is in a strange place.

'a gate...'

"Welcome to Greed Island..." a pale, weird looking girl greeted.

'Greed Island?! Wait... is this...'

The girl's ring started to glow...

"Ah... are you Yuki-sama?"

"Hai..."

"I have been waiting for you...here is a message from Hoshi-sama"

'a message?'

Then the weird girl started to speak with a boy's voice, "Yuki-chan, I'm glad you made it... it means you have remembered everything clearly ... listen... remember the time before I left... I told you we'll be meeting again...being a hunter isn't just fun and fame you know... it also needs work... one thing though... be careful... I know you haven't mastered your nen yet but try to... it's dangerous here and I know it... just... be careful... see ya..."

"Is that all?"

"Yes, that is all the saved data...I will now explain what the game is about would you like to listen to the application?"

"Hai..."

"...in this game there is magic that anyone can use, simply by wielding the ring..."

"magic? what sort of magic?"

"...book and gain...now put the hand with the ring forward and say book"

Yuki complied, "book..." and in thin air a thick book with slightly thick pages appeared

"...in order to finish this game you will need 100 cards...this is the binder to keep the cards in...the purpose of the game is to completely fill the binder."

'sou da ne...'

"turn to the first page"

Yuki followed and she saw the pages were filled with rectangular spaces and numbers.

"...you don't have any cards yet so there are numbers to each slot... in those slots you can only put the corresponding cards...which are called reserved pockets...after the reserved pocket page, there are pockets without numbers"

Yuki then turned to the part of the book after the reserved pocket page.

"...in those pockets you can put any numbered cards...these are called free pockets...the reserved pocket section has 100 pockets ranging from 0 to 99...and the free pocket section has 45...the goal of this game is to completely fill the reserved pocket section, from 0 to 99"

'sou...then all I need to do is to find the cards lying down on the ground... or something like that... but then... it's too easy... there might be a catch'

"...to get these cards...you have to get an item and turn it into a card...let's say you obtain a sword..." then a sword materialized in front of the girl, "...that sword becomes a card the moment the player touches it..." then as what she had said, the sword became a card after she touched it.

'ah...sou ka...hm... will I be able to remember all of these?'

"...when you want to use the card as a weapon, you need to use the other magic, gain." after saying gain, the card became a sword again, "then the card will become an item again..."

'it is handy...'

"...but if you use gain you can't turn that item into a card again... if you want to get the same card you will have to get the item again."

'ah! I knew it...too good to be true' Yuki thought sweatdropping

"...there are also two other situations where an item cannot be turned into a card...the first occurs when the items card max number has already been reached...all the cards in the island have a max limit to the number of card you can carry...some cards are up tp 100 maximum others are up to a maximum of 3..."

'three? She must be joking...'

"...when a card max number is 3..." the girl continued, three swords appearing in front of her then turning into cards, "...and there are three other players who have already turned those items into cards..." then another sword appeared on her right hand, but this time it didn't turn into a card "...then even if you obtain that item you will not be able to turn it into a card...this is an example of when the card number is maxed out"

'sou...so it really isn't easy...it's more complicated than I thought...' Yuki thought sweatdropping again

"...and one more thing.. please keep your cards in the binder...if you keep a card outside of your binder for a minute the card will turn back into an item again and won't be able to turn back into a card..." the girl said as she demonstrated it.

"...lastly the most important thing..." the girl paused, then continued "...when the player dies, the ring, the binder and everything inside will disappear so be careful..."

'what does she mean... this... is a game...'

"...that will be all...this is only the minimum data on the game... you must learn the details as you play the game yourself" the girl concluded, then a staircase opened on her left side, "...the game will start...I wish you good luck" she said.

Yuki nodded then lifted her right hand again, "book..." then went down on the staircase.

'wow...it's kinda peaceful around here-- hm?' she then looked around, 'someone's watching me...from both directions...but I don't see anyone... there may be a town nearby then...' she thought as she went on her way.
