Chapter 3: Explosions and Cautions

"Nani?!" "What's that?!" "Oh my..." "Someone else might be hurt!" these were random things Yuki, Gon and Killua heard as they neared the place where the body exploded.

"What happened?" Gon asked, trying to take a look what the commotion was about.

"His body suddenly exploded..." a man answered.

'Sou...he was killed by nen...' Yuki thought

"Nani? His body's disappearing..." Gon said.

"He's dead... his body was sent back to reality... it's game over for him..." Killua said, trembling a bit.

'He was one of the people who came in with me and Killua...and he was only in here for a few hours...and now he's dead...did Gin really create this game?' Gon thought, "I wonder how did he die.... by magic?... uh... what about you Killua... it might happen to you..." he said.

"I hope not...If it did..." Killua said unable to continue.

"It's not by magic... I'm positive... that person was killed by nen..." Yuki said, her eyes narrowing.

"...by..." Gon said pausing.

"...Nen...?" Killua said after Gon.

"The young lady is correct..." an older man said, "There's no magic that can kill other players... but players use their nen to kill other players... it's called player hunting..."

"Players kill each other?" Gon asked, puzzled.

"You heard about the max card limit right?" the man asked, the three nodded, "As the players increase---"

"...there are less chances for other players to finish the game so in order to make things easier, they kill beginners for them to have greater chances in beating this game..." Yuki interjected.

"Correct again young lady...but we are never threatened by this because we move in a group... a group against this violent way of playing... follow me..." he said motioning the three to follow him.

"A some people from earlier are here too..." Gon whispered as they arrived at a certain spot, Killua nodded in approval, while Yuki was plain puzzled with what the two were talking about.

"There was someone killed over there, just now... he came here with you these two saw it, his stomach was blown up" the man told the people who were there.

"The muscular guy with black hair, the first one to pass the test." Killua told them.

'Nani? What test is he talking about?' Yuki thought.

"It's the bomber..." the man told his companion with the glasses.

"him..." the man with the glasses muttered.

"Bomber?" Killua repeated, Gon just blinked and Yuki got more curious.

The man with the glasses then started to speak, "First let me reassure you on what you're most worried about... He was not killed by a spell...the spells in this game have no lethal effect...so you cannot die from a spell attack."

"So, Killua isn't the only one who got attacked..." Gon interjected, attentively listening to the man with the glasses.

"There are 40 different types of spells. Attacks, defenses, moves and more... but the type that attacked you is categorized under surveilance. Either, trace or adhesion..." the man continued, looking at Killua, "The player who's attacked by that spell will lose their information to others. Where you are located, the cards you have... the enemy will know everything. And, as an added disadvantage in this game... you are already under that spell. It is a huge inconvenience for you. There are certain people who keep an eye on this area so that they can attack new players with this spell. And if you happen to get a rare card, they will come and take it from you. You might die, in the worst-case scenario."

"Like the guy who was killed? I don't die that easily..." one said.

"No...that person was killed for a different reason..." The man responded "Someone who takes player-hunting to the extreme...these guys kill only to get rid of rivals. There are three ways to get cards..."

"The first is getting them yourself..." Killua answered.

"That's one..." the man with the glasses replied.

"Another is trading with other players..." another person said while the man nodded in approval.

"There's still one more..." he then said.

"The last is getting cards from others..." another person said.

"Correct..." the man with glasses answered, "About that... there are two ways of getting cards from other players... it's using magic cards or taking it by force... of course the player-hunters do the latter... We formed this group five years ago in order to finish the game and avoid the carnage they do in the game... Currently we get 1800 cards from 52 members... and out of the 100 cards we currently have 69 cards... if you join the group and give us the cards you may find, we may finish the game within 3 months..."

'So basically they have completed almost 70% of the game...sou da' Yuki contemplated.

"We know you all came under Mr. Battera... and also about his 500 million jeni reward for each player... if you join us the 200 million will go to the 10 members who had formed the group and the rest will be divided among the rest of the group... you may get about 2 million in estimation..." the man with the glasses concluded.

"You said that if we get some of the cards they will be given to you... if I get an SS ranked card will my reward increase? And where do you keep the cards you aquire?" one of them asked.

"About the location of the cards, do not worry because they are hidden in a safe place... and yes you will get more money because an SS ranked card alone costs 100 million jeni.." the man with the glasses answered.

"Sou ka... I'll join you then..."

"To tell the truth... 500 million jeni reduced to 2 million is quite a risk but to finish the game within three months is a good deal... I'll join then..." another said.

"Gomen ne... I won't join... I don't have any money to pay you folks anyway...Ja ne Gon, Killua... see ya..." Yuki said as she walked away.

"Aa...what about you?" the man asked.

"Gomen ne Killua..." Gon said

"Eh? What for?" Killua asked, a puzzled look on his face.

"Gomen ne... but I won't join..." Gon said also walking away.

"Sorry... but that's what the leader said..." Killua said as he followed Gon.
