Chapter 2: Eating Contest and a Meeting

'...they aren't even light eaters...but if there's a promo then I'm up to it! I can't be beaten by those two.. hee hee...' Yuki thought as she went into a restaurant still following the two boys earlier.

"If you finish everything withing thirty minutes then your meal is free" the cat-chef told them as a big plate of pasta was served for each.

"Oi, Killua are we going to ask about that thing we saw earlier...?" the spiky-haired boy asked.

"uh... yeah... I almost forgot..." Killua said, then turned to the cat-chef, "uhm.. hey mister... how many people join the monthly events?"

"hm? It varies... depending on the month... sometimes it's as few as 100 people...but this time of the year the chances are there will be at least 1000 since everyone has a chance on the event..." the cat-chef replied.

"ah...sou ka..." Killua said putting more spaghetti in his mouth, "so we got a chance too... ne Gon?"

Gon just nodded as he ate more spaghetti.

'hm...maybe I'll join the event too...' Yuki thought as she ate more of her spaghetti.

"Mister... do you know anything about magic?" Gon asked.

"...magic? what's that?" the cat-chef replied, Gon sweatdropped.

"Ne... mister... who has the most information in this city?" Killua continued.

"...Information? what's that?" the cat-chef asked again.

"Ah! It's useless Killua... he doesn't know anything..." Gon said, his eyebrow twitching.

"Well... he's a character in the game.. and he's only programmed to answer some questions.. if the question is not programmed for him to answer, he'll just ask 'what's that?'..." Killua answered.

"Ne... Killua, you know so much about these things~!" Gon mused.

'It's always like this in most RPG's...' Killua thought sweatdropping.

'Hm... so that's Gon and he's Killua ne? Hm... and Gon's the more... hmm... childish one I suppose...' Yuki thought as she ate the last of her spaghetti and drank some of her iced tea.

"Oh! Congratulations miss! You finished within eight minutes...!" the cat-chef announced.

"Eh? Someone got ahead of me?!" Killua exclaimed, looking towards Yuki's direction.

"Oi, Killua calm down... you're almost finished as well anyway..." Gon said as he pointed out the remaining food on Killua's plate and ate his last forkful of spaghetti.

"Congratulations! You finished within ten minutes!" the cat-chef announced, congratulating Gon.

"Wha-- Kuso~!" Killua said as he ate all his remaining food in one go and drinking his iced tea to wash it down.

"Congratulations! You finished within twelve minutes!" the cat-chef announced, for the third time, for Killua.

Gon sweatdropped, "Ehehe... Killua... you didn't have to race against me anyway..."

Killua then glared, "I was suppose to finish ahead..."

"Wait while I get your prizes..." the cat-chef said.

Not hearing any of it, Killua continued his 'evil-eye' glare, now towards Yuki.

"Killua...You don't need to get angry ne?" Gon said, trying to distract Killua, sweatdropping while his eyebrow was twitching again.

"Oi... you don't need to look at me like that ne?" Yuki said sarcastically to Killua, her arms folded across her chest.

"Why...you..." Killua said, his eyebrow twitching.

"Here are your prizes..." the cat-chef announced, re-entering the room and giving each of them a card, "this is a galgider card..."

"Nani? This is it?" Yuki asked

"I thought by hearing it's name it was a weapon or something..." Killua commented.

"Um...yeah..." Gon seconded.

"hmm... book..." Yuki said sarcastically, placing the card in her binder

'Kuso~! This is useless... it's like we haven't progressed in anything.. we just filled our stomachs...' Killua thought.

'Nothing else to do here... better go out now...' Yuki thought.

'hmm... I wonder... how do they get any profit here...' Gon thought.

The three of them started to step out of the restaurant, when the cat-chef called out, "Chotto matte! You three need to pay!"

"Nani? didn't you say the meal was free?" Gon asked.

"I said the food was free but not the drinks... it's 1200 jeni for the two of you and 600 for you miss..."

Killua took out a ten thousand jeni bill, "Here's 10,000..."

"Hm? What's that?" the cat-chef asked as he took out a 10,000 jeni card, "We don't accept money in that form... 1200 jeni and 600 jeni in card!" the cat-chef demanded.

'Kuso...they even turn money into cards...' Killua said, his eyebrow twitching again.

"Hmm... wait a second... I may have some here...book..." Yuki said as she checked the contents of her free pockets, "Ah... here's 10,000 jeni" she said, giving the card to the cat-chef, "Hmm...I'll pay for them too" she added indicating Gon and Killua.

"Chotto matte... I'll get some change..." the cat-chef said.

"Hmm... Killua... the lady's nice anyway ne?" Gon said, trying to make Killua change his mind about the girl.

"She still beat me at keeping record time..." Killua said, his eyes as if burning the girl.

"Here it is..." the cat-chef said giving some money cards to Yuki.

"Arigato..." Yuki said as she placed the cards back in her binder, "...book..." she said and her binder went back in her ring and went off, "Ja ne.." she said waving a hand to Gon and Killua.

"Oi~ chotto matte obaa-san~!" Killua yelled out as he went after her, Gon followed.

'what does he want? And I'm not his obaa-san...' Yuki thought, still continuing to walk on the path.

In quick speed, Gon and Killua managed to overtake Yuki and stopped in front of her path.

"Oi...obaa-san, I want to ask something..." Killua said.

"I am not your obaa-san.. so I guess you're not talking to me ne?" Yuki said, trying to get back to walking, but the two intercepted.

"Okay... uh... whoever you are... I wanted to ask something... how long have you been playing here? And why did you pay for our bill anyway?" Killua asked.

"hmm..well the answer to your first question is simple really.. I played for about ten hours in this game... In short I'm just a beginner like you guys...and about paying the bill... I guess it's sort of an apology for beating you in the time record I suppose... hohoho!" Yuki said trying to criticize Killua.

"What are you trying to show?!" Killua asked balling his fist.

"No... really.... I was honest in my first answer... in my second answer ... hmm... well I was trying to test out if the money I exchanged was counterfeit... I'll never know if I won't try..." Yuki said, her face was more serious this time.

"Sou da ne... see Killua I told you she's nice..." Gon mused, "Nee-san what's your name?"

"Mizuno Hikari Yuki..." Yuki answered, "I know it sounds weird... just call me Yuki..."

"Hai, Yuki-chan!" Gon said smiling.

Killua sweatdropped but then he knew Gon too well, "Well..so why are you here anyway obaa-san?" he asked, Yuki then hit him on the head.

"I told you it's Yuki... not obaa-san... but anyway--" her sentence was cut off when she sensed someone was using nen.

"Daijobu ka?" Gon asked.

"..." Yuki's eyes suddenly narrowed.

Then there was an explosion.

A.N.: Okay, again, the disclaimers part... oh by the way I'm going to clear something... on the beginning of the prolouge, Yuki was 12 but when she entered the game she was 15, so she is 3 years older than Gon and Killua. Oh... btw.. I really wanted to have cliffhangers~ gomen nasai! ^^; hee hee... hope no one will kill me... ja bai bai!
