About SCKCSA
Established in 1970, the Southern California Korean College Student Association is a bi-partisan, non-profit organization of Korean American college students. SCKCSA has been active for over 30 years, making it the oldest and largest Korean organization in the United States. It is the governing body, or the umbrella organization, of all the Korean American Student Association (KASA/KSA) in the Southern California region. SCKCSA's membership base consists of over 16,000 students from the following universities: Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, Occidental, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern California.
SCKCSA was established to promote and to provide Korean American college students with opportunities to get involved in the academic, social, political, and community service aspects of the Korean American community. In addition, SCKCSA serves as the central organization through which each individual KASA/KSA communicates and corresponds with one another and various community organizations.
The 2002 Sa-i-gu Anniversary Committee consists of twenty Korean American college students from Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, UC Los Angeles, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, and the University of Southern California. These students are staff members of their respective university's Korean American Student Association (KASA/KSA). The committee's purpose is to organize and prepare for the student gathering at Seoul International Park in Koreatown on the 10-year anniversary of SA-I-GU. As leaders of the Korean American student community, the committee members are dedicated to preserving the memory of SA-I-GU and also spreading awareness to other second-generation Korean Americans and the Southern California community.
