Harry Potter

I've read Harry Potter fanfic before, but for some reason, the urge to actually write fanfiction didn't strike me until much, much later. I don't know what it is -- maybe it's because of the recent speculation behind who should play Lupin and Black (Ralph Fiennes gets my vote for Lupin, and Jim Caviezel must be Black!). Maybe it's a pair of Marauders in my head giving me puppy dog eyes to write their tales. Right now, I haven't found myself hooked on any odd slash pairings, although I do seem to have a thing for some of the lesser-featured characters...

Title: Chiaroscuro
Rating: PG-13
Posted: June 23, 2002
Summary: Thirteen years apart, thirteen years of deception and skewed perception. When Sirius Black is sent to 'lie low' at Remus Lupin's for a while, both discover that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Old friends must put aside long-harbored feelings of mistrust and pride if they are to survive the coming hardships, and trust -- lost over thirteen years ago in the time it took to utter a single curse -- does not come quite as easily as they might expect.
Pairing: Sirius/Remus
Author's Notes: Remus, Sirius, drool. Kind-of some sweetly sappy angst, if such a thing is possible.
Musical Inspiration: "Sit Down" by James for the first section, "They Stood Up for Love" by Live for the second section.

Title: You Are the Everything
Rating: R
Posted: July 7, 2002
Summary: Set immediately following "Chiaroscuro," Remus seeks to draw Sirius closer, when all Sirius wants to do is run away.
Author's Notes: Umm... Could be NC-17 with Remus being the hentai that he is. Probably not, though, as it isn't grapic, but if you don't like that sort of stuff, then you probably don't want to be reading this. Free cookies if anyone can spot the "Neverwhere" reference!
Musical Inspiration: "You Are the Everything" by R.E.M.

Title: Revenge Most Sweet
Chapter 1: A Breath of Silver
Chapter 2: If the Foundations Be Destroyed...
Chapter 3: Don't Go Away
Chapter 4: A Game of Chess
Rating: PG

Last Updated: September 8, 2002
Summary: Why did Sirius Black tell Severus Snape to go to the Whomping Willow on the night of the full moon? It wasn't an innocent childhood prank -- it was revenge.
Author's Notes: One of my better pieces, if I do say so myself. There's just so much background, so many motivations that come to the surface that aren't always as clear-cut as you'd imagine. And damn, but Sirius can talk once he gets started...
Musical Inspiration: Many, including "Raven" by Hedningarna (for that gaspy, asthmatic introduction and the sinister vocalist that reminds me of Snape), "Don't Go Away" and "Silo Lullaby" by Toad the Wet Sprocket, "Back to Good" by Matchbox 20, "Innocent One" by Michael Penn, and "Clubbed to Death" by Rob Zombie.

Title: Bleeding October
Rating: PG
Posted: February 9, 2003
Summary: The roots of distrust run deep, spreading swiftly one chilly October night, even as Remus and Sirius both fight to protect the innocence of young Harry Potter.
Author's Notes: Kind-of an introspection as to why Remus and Sirius think each other the spy, as cited during the Shrieking Shack incident in PoA. Might be good, might not be good. Who knows? It's the first major thing I've written in a while, though, so I'm not complaining.
Musical Inspiration: "After the Fall" by October Project and "Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra (Yeah, Black has bad taste in music... but damned, if that song isn't catchy...).
