Highlight of the film sudah jelas, VAN ZAN!!! Matthew McConaughey sepertinya sangat menikmati peran Dragon Slayer yang sombong.

Johnny English (2003)

Composer: Edward Shearmur

He Knows No Fear, He Knows No Danger…

He Knows Nothing

Album ini diawali oleh Robbie Williams dengan lagu A Man for All Seasons kemudian Theme from Johnny English dari Shearmur. Ada juga dua track dari kuartet Bond, Kismet dan Theme from Johnny English (Salsa version).

Kutipan dari Movie Music UK:

Musically, Johnny English is an absolute treat, with Ed Shearmur's rollicking spy score being everything David Arnold's last two 007 scores weren't, but should have been. With a blistering central theme (co-written by Howard Goodall), all guitar riffs and blasting horns cornerstoning everything, Shearmur lends English a sense of adventure, style and panache. The truck chase cue is simply marvellous, a tremendous amalgam of John Barry-style orchestral fluidity and modern grooves. Even the love theme for Johnny and Lorna reeks of the sun-kissed hues Barry brought to many of his French Riviera Bond scores. With the swinging sixties title song 'A Man For All Seasons' by Robbie Williams (and co-written by Hans Zimmer), selections by Abba and Moloko, and classical tracks by sexy all-girl string quartet Bond, Johnny English is a winning soundtrack all the way. Someone give this man a Bond movie!

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)

Sutradara: Kerry Conran

Composer: Edward Shearmur

Brikut kutipan dari Ed Shearmur:

For a composer it's such a great canvas for anyone interested in writing in the tradition of Golden Age Hollywood scores. It's an opportunity that doesn't present itself very often, and certainly doesn't present itself to that many composers. It was an ideal opportunity for me to flex certain musical muscles that hadn't been flexed for a while. This movie required a thematic approach that would allow me to write heroic themes, sweeping love themes and action cues. I would also have the time to really explore and develop those themes and weave them into a score in a way that I normally wouldn't have the chance to do. From a counterpoint and orchestral writing point of view, the music is much more evolved than what I've previously written; all of the things that interest me musically were explored in this movie.

Brikut kutipan dari Cinescape (edited):

Edward Shearmur’s score for delightfully retro SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW conveys the sound and feel of Hollywood’s golden-age composers, although most contemporary listeners will most likely associate the sound of it with John Williams and STAR WARS, since that lavish score was likewise based upon the Korngold and Steiner and Newman scores of the ‘30s and ‘40s. The thoroughly orchestral composition is a large, full-blooded symphonic score that energizes the lavishly effects-full film. Enhanced by choir when needed ("The Robot Army"), the music is strident and powerful, lavish in its orchestral flourish ("The Flying Wings Attack") and intimate with soft, emotive melodies ("Back at the Base," "Flight To Nepal"). It’s a thoroughly wonderful score, as much in its own right as in its ability to recall an earlier period of film scoring. Shearmur has provided an excellent sound design that is certainly the equal of its remarkable visual sensibility.
