Kutipan dari Varese Sarabande:

Manny, Sid and Diego return in another incredible adventure. The Ice Age is coming to an end, and the animals are delighting in their new world: a melting paradise of water parks, geysers and tar pits. John Powell, one of the most successful composers working today, has composed a score brimming with melody. The soundtrack itself is an epic adventure, overflowing with a sense of wonder and fun.

One of the best scores of 2006!

Kutipan dari John Powell:

It's all original material for this one, but it all had to be in the same family, and the same language. I obviously wrote all these new themes, but one of them - the main X-Men theme, is homage to the past two themes that we used in the same way. It all uses the same kind of intervals, and same language.

The X-Men theme was really written to the title sequence which I pretty much did first. It was funny because Brett came up to me and said, ‘Why are you doing the title sequence first?’ I said I found it useful to just try and write to it to see what comes up. He says, ‘I don’t understand this—Danny [Elfman] always does the title sequence last!’ And of course what happened was I wrote a title sequence early on and got a tune out of it, which was good, but indeed it literally was the last thing I did because near the end of the dub a totally new visual came in for the title sequence and we had to rewrite the music to fit it better to the visual. So in the end we did do it last.

You basically have to start with what gets your juices flowing, so you look for something to start on, and if it’s the first frame of film that’s fine. Sometimes it’s the end titles, sometimes it’s a tiny scene in the middle. I skip around and write things everywhere and anywhere and it’s amazing what things pop out almost unbeknownst to you—it’s your subconscious telling you something about the story and you realize that you need that material even though you didn’t set out to write it. Unfortunately the end title that we did at the last minute isn’t on the album; I’m hoping they’ll get it on iTunes.
