| With the return to power of Lord Ryder Salice and Lord Garren Sparrowhawk, the Second Age and the Time of Wandering comes to a close. In what would have been the year 3279 SA, the Third Age of Kryastal's history begins. The years, henceforth, will be known in terms of Anno Dominis, "the Year of Our Lords". 1 AD Lords Garren and Ryder take up residence in the Great Tower which is now known as the Lords Tower. The Mages Guild Council will now reside in Ryder Salice's old compound. The old council compound is taken over by the Artificer Guild. 5 AD The ancient dragons of Kryastal go into a magical hibernation at the behest of Ryder Salice and the gods until the time each is summoned by his respective god or goddess. Tensions between Zanthus and Ponua develop and quickly begin to intensify. 27 AD A series of civil wars breaks out on Zanthus over the right of succession. Fighting occurs sporadically over the next 400 years. 177 AD The last occupying forces of Salin leave Isiria. 430 AD The Isles of Ponua launches an all-out invasion of Zanthus. The war known as Vastnarog, the "Twilight of Honor", begins. 639 AD Balamore relinquishes formal control of the northern half of Zauberra, but not before installing a new monarchy. This new kingdom is named by its inhabitants, Medaphis. 652 AD Zantherians claim final victory over Ponuan invasion ending the Vastnarog. Victory has come at a great price; over half of Zanthus's native population died in the war. 664 AD A stange disease has appeared on Zanthus. Native Zantherians are most susceptible. 685 AD The disease on Zanthus has escalated into a genocidic plague. The "Drowning Death" kills virtually every Zantherian of native blood it infects. Non-natives are affected as well. Menava orders its ships to deny entry to its ports to any vessel from Zanthus. 713 AD A Joizian mage tracks the source of the plague on Zanthus to a fungus native to the Isles of Ponua. Now that the cause is known, efforts begin to eradicate it. 738 AD Zanthus is fully purged of the Drowning Death and its cause. Menava lifts its blockade. A handful of those with true Zantherian blood survive -- a small minority amongst the renewed population of the land. 1227 AD King Consteel of Medaphis is overthrown by those seeking reunification with the lands to the south. 1244 AD The War of Reunification ends on Zauberra with the continent once again being ruled as a whole by the Mages Guild on the land's island capital of Trendon. A significant portion of the northern population resents being ruled from so far south. 1469 AD Wars of the Dark Lady begin on Zauberra. An army of the north, made up mostly of followers of Kuladar, led by the powerful sorceress Kagero revolt against the ruling body of the continent, the Zauberran Mages Guild. 1502 AD The final battle on Zauberra takes place. The Mages Guild quells the rebellion, but their army's last act destroys what was the old kingdom of Medaphis and all its people. Now a desert exists side by side with a frozen wasteland on the northern third of that continent. Kagero's soul is sealed within the ruins of her fortress stronghold. 2508 AD Despite the best efforts of a group of adventures, the Kagero's spirit freed from its prison and escapes to wander Kryastal. |
